Let me make one thing clear: I don't want you to tell me about underappreciated masterpieces like The Boondock Saints. What I want you to tell me about is movies, books, music and comics that people don't even know about even though they're great; stuff that people would love if they only got a chance to.

So come on! Tell us about that wonderful movie, band, film, book or comic that only you have heard of.

Deltora Quest. Australia's answer to LOTR.

Alfred Hitchcock presents.

Best Improvisation Ever 2. Way better than canon rock.

Wong is hardly unknown.
Or?
The point is, is he known to the OP?
Yeah, suppose that's fair enough.
In that case, I'd like to chip in with a bit of support for finnish director Aki Kaurismäki.
- Imagine if Jim Jarmusch was european and suffering from bipolar-disorder.

Well one of my favorite movies would be the Korean drama Oldboy. But it seems as if almost no one has ever heard of it.

I haven't ever heard of him. Though I am planning to see 2046.
See "In The Mood For Love" first, or "2046" will be hard to understand. Actually, it will be hard to understand anyway, but no reason to make things any more difficult for yourself than that they need to be, especially where his films are concerned. Also be aware that 2046 probably isn't what you are expecting, unless you've read extensively about the film before watching (don't do this btw). For my money his best film is Fallen Angels.

Oldboy is awesome, my second favourite Korean film after Lies. That freaky white-knuckle one-take fight scene blows me away every time. And that ending, oh how wrongtown it is...

Really? Like really? Those books weren't that great, plus they were very short (120 pages, large text) if you combined them all maybe you made one good book.

But no Wheel of Time or Farseers Trilogy. Though I admit they'd be good for children and young teenagers to get into fantasy.

Not totally unknown, but Memento for me. Half for Nolan's awesome direction and cinematography of doing the movie backwards, half because my brother suffers the same condition as Leonard though not nearly as severe. (He can craft long term memories only, short term is non-existant)

I have not only seen it, but also read the entire manga on which it is based.
But I guess I ought to chip in something myself, so I'll go with the Swedish comic writer Falstaff, fakir. He's hilarious, and still almost nobody has heard of him these days.

Powerman 5000 seems relatively unknown, especially in the UK. Shame they haven't released anything at all recently.

The Warhammer 40K books, everyone hears Warhammer and thinks "Geek!" but they are rather good books (thus far anyway, reading about Horus' rebellion and the beginning of Chaos)

Actually, I prefer the third chapter in his revenge trilogy, Kind-Hearted Ms. Geum-Ja to Oldboy.
I think the story is somewhat more humane, as it is less eager to shock through intrigue.
Granted, it doesn't have the same sense of impending tragedy - but it's my pick all the same.

A few lesser-known things that I love

Arsenic And Old Lace[footnote]This may not have been lesser-known in the 40's but nobody seems to know of it today.[/footnote] A hilarious movie starring Cary Grant. A giant ball of insanity, wrapped in comedy, and made completely awesome.

Gotcha Force. A game for Nintendo Gamecube that was made of awesome. I've only met one person who owns it, and heard from a few others on the internet. You assembled large teams of small robots, and beat the bajeesus out of other armies. There were Ninja, Samurai, Military, Tanks, Dragons, Flying Fortresses, and a boatload of more awesomeness. My only real complaint is that all the characters sound like they were voiced by ten year olds, but all of the human characters are kids, so that's slightly forgivable. I finally found this game after a bit over a year of searching and got it used, with a discount for 30 AMERICAN DOLLARS.

Finally, a band that I love that seems to be unknown to most people:
I would say Streetlight Manifesto, but there seems to be a healthy fanbase here.

Instead I go for One Cool Guy (some of the members are now in Streetlight), because they were much jazzier than your standard third wave fare, and you can see it shows up in SM. They don't even have a wkipedia page for christ's sakes!

Also, Gimp, Kalnoky's first band when he was in school. They released one tape, and to be honest, it wasn't all that great. However, I love it for a few reasons:
A) It the first thing Tomas Kalnoky did, it's amazing to see the start of an outstanding musical career
B) It's hard to describe what I mean, it's kinda... honest. It's a highschool punk band, there's no bullshit, you know the songs are about real stuff (I know this makes no sense), like Supernothing (the original is actually better than the later versions I feel. This version is much more raw and depressing)
C) You can tell he shares my love for Nirvana.

Well, Apparently i'm the only one in here who read Sandman soooo.....
I'll go with that.
Sandman? Unknown? If you say so.

In terms of comics, check out Tales From the Bully Pulpit, which is about Teddy Roosevelt and Thomas Edison time-travelling and fighting Martian Nazis.

For serious comics, Guy Delisle is an comic book author and animator who's done work in China and North Korea, and he's published a series of autobiographical travel comics (Shenzhen and Pyongyang, and both are fantastic). I'm rather fond of all of his work I've seen.

Jeff VanderMeer writes good books.
