For serious comics, Guy Delisle is an comic book author and animator who's done work in China and North Korea, and he's published a series of autobiographical travel comics (Shenzhen and Pyongyang, and both are fantastic).

I read those. Great, aren't they? It's nice to see I'm not alone.
