Basicly instances where you think that a sequel could have gone huge by using what it already had to make something even bigger and better.

Here is what I think Battlefield 4 could be if it tried to be more then just competing with COD (ditch the linear campaign and focus on something more loose for the single-player guys)

So, Battlefield 4. From what we know its basicly the same as Battlefield 3 with new maps and guns (and Commander mode apparently) and a probably crappy campaign.

Here is where I think it could have gone big by using all of its best features (it would however need to add bot support to its multiplayer maps). Does anyone here knows about Star Wars Battlefront 2 Galactic Conquest mode? If not here is a brief explanation and a video to let you know its awesomeness:

You choose a team and then in your galaxy map you command the units to the planets to conquer them (each planet is a multiplayer map), at first you and the enemy only have basic soldiers but with the money of your victories you can buy new unit types and special atributes (like having a Jedi to assist in combat).

So imagine that instead of a galaxy map you have a world map and you fight to capture the places where the multiplayer levels take place, starting with just basic infantry (with basic weapons and gear) and finishing with elite soldiers armed to their teeth would really give a nice sense of progression to it. The enemy team may spend a lot of money in tanks but you bought some nice anti-tank gear for your enginners so you still have a chance to fight back.

Every combat would let attacker choose the gamemode(Conquest, Rush, Team Deathmatch) to change the victory rewards (Conquest would give to the winner a respawn ticket bonus the next time a combat took place there, Rush would give the looser a respawn ticket penalty for an adjacent area, etc...) to spice things up with variety.

There could be more things added to give more depth to it like 2 seperate economies (money and intell), money would be used to buy actual gear and vehicles and would be won through victories while intell would be used for bonuses for your team or penalties for the enemy and would be won by completing specific objectives during combat (Example in Conquest: Hold all flags simoultaniously). For anyone that played Section 8 those dynamic missions would even work better for this.

Conclusion:
The point of all of this would be to give a nice "world battle feel" to the game, to make you part of a war, as a commander and as a soldier. It wouldnt always be the same and as more drastic the variants are the more dynamic it will feel(instead of bonuses relying on things like respawn tickets have them focus on bigger things like sending a napalm strike making the level be on fire, making buildings a hazard and vehicle combat very limited to certain paths)

It could also work with 2 players or even as co-op.

This is mostly something that has been in my head for a while and I am just disapointed that they arent as bold to try something like this (or anything, they just go with the typical campaign and the typical multiplayer).

Is there any franchise where you feel that they could have gone home with the prize but somehow settled in on just delivering a familiar experience (still a good one though)?
