Perhaps it has not struck you, mister Tito, that not all TOR subscribers are from the countries with viable Costumer Support telephone numbers and, as such, have not only the annoyance of trying to make all the damn required prefixes work but also are forced to pay a rather prestigious phone bill in comparison to their usual bill. Because, as we all know, NOTHING - EVER - gets done fast over call center Customer Service.

All this, let me remind you, because a multinational, multibillion, company is missing a button on one of their webpages.

And locking threads that link to it directly. Which is, to use a technical term "muchos suspect".

Another site explains that the "Cancel Subscription" button, though it's there, takes you to a page to set up a subscription. It's not that the button is or isn't there. It's that it doesn't do what it's supposed to do when it's there.

Now, whether the thread thing is true or the product of a lot of haterade, I have no idea.

I guess a lot more people are going to get that Founder title, whether they want it or not.

A phone? A phoooone? You mean...that thing that was solely developed for updating facebook? Yes, I'm familiar with this device in a way.

Hmmmm, wonder how long it will take before people start saying "ITS EA'S FAULT!!! MONEY GRABBING ******** ****** **** **** ******* EVIL ****** ****** ****** TURTLES!!!"?
didnt take to long theres one on the facebook comments basicly asking if they were ok and he knew ea bought them out but they could atleast try and put up a fight

Excellent. I'm sick of Bioware being painted as the "good guys" all the time. Face it.

They work closely with EA.

They released DA2.

How are they still receiving goodwill from gamers?
Okay remember when Square started releasing pretty much junk to the general public, some of the games were genuinely good (FFXII) while pretty much the rest (Dirge of Cerberus, XIII, XIV) we're filthy turds? Yeah it took a while for people to have the shoe drop and realize that no, the company they loved before was not the same.

Well it's the same for Bioware, except in this case there are two factors. The first is that EA throws it's money around a lot better than Square does, the second comes down to the people doing the reporting. They don't want to ADMIT that everything's gone to hell! I mean it got to the point where Penny-Arcade was legitimately calling Dragon Age 2 good, when even TIM BUCKLEY the talentless unfunny hack was getting his digs in! It's more than Brand Loyalty. By admitting that Bioware, for lack of a better term, sucks, they have to admit that their wont be anymore Baldurs Gate 2's or Knights of the Old Republic's, or even Dragon Age: Origins (For the record, I actually really liked DA:O, but more as "This was a good showing, now improve upon it" like the original Baldurs Gate to BG2)

But let's not kid ourselves. That Bioware is gone, the people are still there (well not all of them) but the talent? dead. The name has no value, stretched over to a bunch of liquidated studio's that EA hopes will garner praise because geeks have good will to Bioware.

When Black Isle dissolved and the people split up their spirit lived on. Bioware didn't dissolve, but their spirit is gone.

So, when you say "BioWare faces fraud accusations" you mean "BioWare faces anonymous whining on their forums". I realize article titles are supposed to grab attention, but there's a line between spin and deception, isn't there? A line which can be crossed?

This article in particular is not really deceptive. But it's something I am noticing on the Escapist. What the article title implies tends to be a bit distant from what the article is. Am I being clear? When I hear "fraud accusations" I think lawsuits, lawyers - official stuff. Not some helpless saps who don't know how to pick up a phone.
Brainstorm, out of curiosity I did pop into /v/ to see if they were "Whining" and guess what? they were laughing. Do you know what they talk about in those TOR threads? the mindless sheep who defend the game without thinking and without question, the fanboys of the fanboys.

I observed for 5 hours people watching the stock market rising and falling, while explaining to others how stocks worked, bringing up past data, and genuinely getting uproarious.

This whole situation reminds me of a wonderful quote really

Perhaps you were expecting some surprise, for me to reveal a secret that had eluded you, something that would change your perspective of events, shatter you to your core. There is no great revelation, no great secret. There is only you
Let me alter that to this situation.

Perhaps you were expecting some great raid, for it to be revealed that /v/ had launched into some over complicated trolling campaign, bent on making Bioware and EA submit. But there is no raid, no great conspiracy, just a bunch of guys who find the poorly handled situation (Killing your own game with a patch while locking your forums, not to mention deleting negative posts inside threads so it looks like no one's complaining, and yes that's been monitored) people having legitimate trouble unsubscribing, and of course the Bioware Fanboys who are so in denial that they will close their eyes and scream "MOST INNOVATIVE MMO OF OUR TIME, THERE ARE NO FLAWS!") hilarious.

Wow I feel lucky. I am just using a Time card. With all the Origin mandartory for mass effect 3, the added factor of multiplayer tacked on (reminds me of dead space 2) and dragon age 2, not to mention other issues, do you think they are going the way of westwood ? I get the feeling the same thing happend to Blizzard.

But remember, folks, regulating business is bad!
Ah, well, I'm a filthy European communi-facist, so I wouldn't know about that since the government seized control of all our businesses.
OK I have to say it.

Communist is far Left
Fascist is far Right

Soviets - Communist
Nazi -Fascist

Both tried to stab each other in the Face in WW2. They hated each other. The Western Front (Meaning Brits, Americans, French, ect.) was a slap-fest compared to the Eastern Front. Stories from the Eastern front are truly horrifying not too mention what Soviet Russia did to East Germany after the war.

Communi-Facist would be like saying Atheist-Christian.

OT: ya not fraud. If EA does ACCIDENTALLY charge people, it WILL be refunded. I am speaking Legally.

okay according to some research, it's not that the button is removed for everyone so much as Bioware can not into coding (or they did it on purpose, either way, not good for them)

See if you only brought a months subscription and near the end of the month you're trying to unsubscribe, button isn't there. Either the server doesn't think they have an account or Bioware purposely made it that way, I don't know. I'm not a mind reader.

If people can pick up a phone, a multi-million dollar company can be bothered to make sure their website is running properly. We've had how many decades of using web code?

You forgot that their website shut down in the early morning due to 'High Traffic' and then when the website came back online posting was disabled. Now I'm not saying that Bioware are terrible community managers who are either malicious or incredibly inept but-

Oh wait no that's exactly what I'm saying.

And now for Statler and Waldorf!

I remember a while back and Microsoft kept the button to cancel auto-renew behind many links and things telling you why you should stay...then they took it away altogether and made customers have to call to turn off auto-renew.

Thankfully they brought back the ability to disable auto-renew AND made it easy to find. I remember Xbox.com asking for some site feedback and I complained about that one thing, and even included a snide remark at the end about how I may as well not bother saying anything cuz they probably wouldn't change it either way.

I signed up for a three month recurring subscription, and yesterday when I went to check my account status there was no "Cancel subscription" button.

However, today, there is a "Cancel Subscription" button. It looks like they may have fixed it.

What's that sound i hear?... Oh, right, it's the sound of you owning the thread.

OT: Try a different browser? Seriously, I run firefox most of the time, but there are some things which it just plain won't run. When that happens i crack out my version of Chromium and get around the problem that way.

Seriously, how can this be causing problems?

In this day where EVERYONE seems to have a cellphone, I find it laughable that some folks wouldn't use it to make a call in a situation like this.

That being said, the ToR forums have been a bastion of QQs since the moment this game went live, so I'm willing to bet that this is being blown out of proportion.

you can just use internet banking and ban bioware from charging you claiming its "involuntary charge". the bank would automatically reject the charge.
