If the guy hates playing James Bond that much he should say no. Another two films is a big commitment if they really make him so miserable.

What do you do with such a humongous amount of money? Normal people do something creative, like making Witcher 3. But what will a single person do with it? He can hardly blow it all on hookers and drugs. He would have to purchase companies or small countries.

Man, I cannot think of a better thing to be paid 150 million dollars to do than be James Bond.

Take the money, Daniel.

So like....The Man From U.N.C.L.E?

Which I really enjoyed because of it being prepared to take on the lighter tone of older spy movies. I don't dislike the Daniel Craig Bond movies, but they're very grim.

Or just have balance, Goldeneye was perfect example of that. And also I don't want Bond to revert back to this era:

Quantum of Solace was shit because it happened to be made during the Writers Giuld strike. What writers the studio could get for the script were obviously not up to the job and it came down to Sony wanting a return on investment more than wanting another good film in thier portfolio.
Okay so that's why QOS sucked explained how do you explain the rubber johnny fire that was Spectre?

As for them throwing money at Craig, seems like someone somewhere wanted to continue the piss poorly shoe horned in at the last minute interconnected world building attempt that was seen in Spectre, maybe actually expand and flesh it out so that it better brought the utterly unconnected plots of Casino, QOS and Skyfall together in a better and more meaningful way than they managed in Spectre. Only issue, it only has even the slightest chance of working if they can keep hold of Craig, they loose him and they have to start all over again.

Please NO! He is from the Roger Moore school of acting. Bond is supposed to have a cruel streak in him. I don't get that with Cavill. I hope we get someone who is relatively unknown and fits the role. Too bad Harrison Ford isn't 30. And British. And relatively unknown.
Idris Elba would be a great James Bond; He's got the right attitude and that cruel streak. And I think enough people have seen him but don't know his name that he would make a great pick (though he's already the gunslinger so that might change things). But either way definitely better than Carvill.

But, and I'm mildly surprised no one has pointed this out, my first thought was that they were trying to avoid the inevitable media outrage of either picking or NOT picking the first black Bond. With Ghostbusters they courted the media on purpose and that didn't exactly play into their hands... and now they see the same mess brewing with the Dark Tower (plus Idris is already busy with that project so they probably can't get him immediately either way) so why not just keep Craig and avoid the whole mess and hope for things to have calmed down for next time.

150 *million* for glorified roleplaying. 150 million. A century ago, artists used to be happy to get a wage for constant work. 150 million ... we're truly fucked as a species, aren't we?

Actually on topic, Daniel Craig as James Bond? Gah, no ... can't we have the humour back, please? Like a Roger Moore v2.0? Or a glib comedy like Connery? Or even a pithy cheese-ness of Pierce Brosnan of at least GoldenEye quality and nothing about his other adventures as Bond? Like, you know. Fun. Have something fun, again? Fun. It used to be enough. When did the fun decide to stay in bed and get smothered by the angst? When did brooding become a character trait as opposed to merely an occasional facet when it was called for?

I hate life. Life sucks. Being an assassin sucks. I, like, have millions ... and can do anything. But that would involve confronting my brood-face. Nobody wants to see me in speedos while brooding. Brooding doesn't work on a sunny beach doing everything else but not hating myself for a job I could quite easily quit. Fuck it, I'll just continue carrying a gun ... and brooding.

At least Connery had a reason for being an assassin. It's because a part of him enjoyed it. Ditto Moore, even Dalton and Brosnan. Craig just seems pathetic for the sake of pathetic. That's what made the ending of GoldenEye so good. Two Cold Warriors confronting the fact that they're born killers and that off the leash they would be a danger to the world at large. That monsters need cages, otherwise the same person with the same talents and the same capacities to inflict harm, shock-horror, inflict harm. That redemption doesn't necessarily come in the form of change and transformation, but simply in the direction of your applied energies.

There is a reason why Brosnan catches his twin who actively reflects the ugliness he shares. Just to look him in the eyes and discover the reason for their difference. Realising the thin veil that exists ... and reaffirming it, by dropping him after confronting his nature.

Strong message. Dark message. Still fun.

It's a shame Craig feels that way, because frankly, I think he did a good job playing Bond. Some people may complain, and nobody's required to say he was the best, but frankly I don't think he did a BAD job with the role. What he did was something different from the majority of previous incarnations. No, he wasn't incessantly making one-liners, using cars that turned into submarines, or what have you. But frankly, I think the kind of Bond he played was still a good one; he was more down-to-earth, more human and relatable. He had to persevere under the burden of his job, and it took its toll on him. He wasn't an unflappable, unphaseable super hero, but that's not a bad thing. When you go too far in the direction of the never-breaks-a-sweat protagonist, you start straying into Mary Sue territory. Craig's Bond, I'd say, is closer to what a genuine spy/secret agent is; tough, clever, but takes his job seriously. Making the occasional glib remark or having a bit of gallows humor about him, but always able to appreciate the gravity of a situation. Maybe tht's not what some people want out of their James Bond, but I think it's a worthwhile way to handle the character.

This!

Not to mention in the last films he was portrayed as being past his prime, that opens the door to the 'gadgets' we saw in previous films and it makes sense he'd start relying more heavily on them. Although frankly he wasn't entirely without awesome little toys, like his auto anti-poison/med centre car in Casino Royal.

I hate him as an actor. I haven't enjoyed his performance in one role yet (I haven't seen them all obviously, and I don't want to). He always feels stiff, and his expressions always seems blank, no matter what he's trying to show. So yeah, I'd rather him not appear in anything anymore, let alone another James Bond movie.

How about Mr Sakharine in Tintin?

I'd say he was pretty great in that.

I didn't see it because the the character models really put me off. It all looks fugly to me.

From some clips I watched he seemed alright, but of course, I'd need to see more to give a proper judgement.

I loved it (and him).

As a lifelong fan of Tintin, I thought this movie was awesome. True to the source material, and modified enough to still be a surprise to those who read the comicbooks.

I never got into anything Tintin related. There were some of those comics in my old school library but they never held my interest back then.

I will say one thing though, I respect the fact that the creator always put in the effort to get all the little cultural details accurate for every region Tintin went to. I remember noticing that ^^

Well then seems Daniel is happy with whatever Sony agreed to pay him.

Now we wait and see if hes happy enough to actually do the job.
