Basically, if this video is to be beleived, than Microsoft has make changed their policy reguarding copyright (you know that thing that everyone was mad about awhile ago?) to that if you put something involving their IPs on the internet and you don't make money from it, you're fine. They also say that if you make money but do it through a youtube partnership, it is also fine. Thoughts?

...Oh, okay cool...

Really though, was there any real problem to begin with? It seems odd since unlike music soundtracks or movies (which can be easily downloaded off Youtube or similar), they aren't posting the actual game data but a recording of a game session with commentary.

As long as the person doesn't go waving the bogus claim of "I own everything you see and hear" blatantly then they're fine.

Well there were quite a few people complaining when there was a news article about it, so I thought that it was worth mentioning.

Heh, smells like a little bit of backpedalling, but regardless, that's good news for me. Many of the youtubers I suscribe to have and continue to monetize from Microsoft IP's.

This sort of thing is inevitable, isn't it? I'm waiting for companies to crack down on Youtube LPs of heavily story-based games. I'm sure it would cause a ruckus, but it would be understandable.

another problem is that technically game review sites when doing vid reviews are profiting off of the IP's as well. there is a huge conflict there as fair use laws at least in the U.S. say you can use copyrighted material for reviews. where do you draw the line.
