UPDATE: Super Street Fighter IV Unveiled Tomorrow?

Capcom has launched a mysterious Street Fighter IV teaser site that seems to suggest that the company will be pulling the veil off a new version of the game - with new characters in the roster - sometime tomorrow.

If you go to the "Indestructible" [http://www.capcom.co.jp/newwarrior/index.html]) - and you may notice that the URL contains the phrase "newwarrior."

The immediate thought that springs to mind is that this may be an announcement regarding the two Super Street Fighter II characters - T.Hawk and Dee Jay - that didn't make the SF4 cut. Hell, we already know [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/89547-More-Street-Fighter-IV-Characters-If-Theres-Demand] that data already existed for the pair, but they'd been scrapped during development. I'm personally holding out hope for, say, Alex or Ibuki from Street Fighter III, but the two SSF2 characters seem like the more likely choice here.

Or perhaps it isn't just new characters - last week, we reported that the Japanese SF4 blog had been teasing [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/94849-Street-Fighter-IV-Sequel-In-The-Works] rumors about a possible "Championship Edition" update to Street Fighter IV, with all the new goodies - including characters - that you might expect. We were told to expect a concrete announcement shortly, and it looks like that announcement may be forthcoming: The date on the site is tomorrow, Sept. 29th, at 5:00 PM Japanese time (9:00 AM in the UK, and 4:00 AM here on the Eastern seaboard of the United States).

Stay tuned, folks.

Update: French site [http://kotaku.com/5369357/are-these-super-street-fighter-iv-screens/gallery/] that show T.Hawk and new fighter "Juri." Nothing official yet, but if they're fakes, they're pretty damn convincing. If everything is to believed, this announcement won't just be for new characters, but for a new iteration entirely called Super Street Fighter IV. You may notice that (among other things) the Ultra meter looks different ... I wonder why.

Maybe they will be releasing these new characters or a major update shortly before the release of Tekken 6 in order to try to compete. Street Fighter IV has really been the only choice for fighting fans this year (at least in places without Blazblue) and Tekken could seriously cut into that without some sort of update.
Edit - If they announce Dudley I'm going to find the people that did this and thank them personally
Edit 2 - I think those screens are fakes, in an interview with Seth Killian he said that Capcom wanted to Ultra bar to be extremely noticeable by saying "Hi, I'm on fire." Green isn't very noticeable.

I was thinking the same thing, not that SFIV is bad, but if something would make it unique and different for users again and would cost little (if nothing) as opposed to the cost of a full game, they would be stupid not to release it to compete. Hopefully this is not just hype over nothing though ( like a new costume set or something )

Another leak from France?! Was ODST just testing the video game industry to see how hard they can push?

The ultra bar is allot different in the 4th screen shot than it is in the game.

I hope these extra characters will be coming to the PC version as well.

I really do hope that this possible new character doesn't interest me in the slightest. If they actually released a character I liked, I'd have to pay hundreds of dollars just to get him.

That video was ... kind of scary. And i dont doubt that its a new character. I don't think CAPCOM would make such a small video on a entire site just cause of nothing. Hence the URL.

Gamespot has a first look [http://tgs.gamespot.com/story/6230625/super-street-fighter-iv-impressions-first-look?tag=topslot;thumb;1] and some screenshots.

Here's a summary of what Ono had to say.

* Super Street Fighter 4 is tentatively set for a spring 2010 release.
* The update will be released on a disc, and won't be available as DLC (Downloadable Content) ? but the game will be priced as an upgrade ? not a brand new title.
* As this time, they're thinking of adding about 8 characters to the game. (Rumors currently have this pegged at 10 fighters total).
* Capcom is planning on adding more features to the online modes. Things so people can enjoy playing as a group. (Sounds like lobbies are in).
* There will be tweaks and balance changes, along with more online stuff and new features the developers are adding in.
* Bonus Stages aren't 100% confirmed, but it sounds very likely they'll be making it into Super Street Fighter 4.
* You won't need the original disc to play this update, but fans who have a copy of SF4 will be, "happy to have held on to it," as they'll be receiving something nifty.
* Juri is a Korean Tae Kwan Do fighter and is very important to the storyline.
* They skipped "Champion Edition" and "Turbo" and jumped straight to "Super" for the name of this upgrade because of the scale and size of what they're planning.
