Updates for games

Ok, I just got Fable 3 for my 360, and the first thing that happens when I start to play the disc is .....an update.

The game just came out! How in the nine hells is the game already out of date? And this wasn't just a tiny tweak, it took more than two minutes to load the update.

Is this just sloppy work on the part of the developers, or a more inherent issue with gaming economy?

Your thoughts on the matter.

Well considering that without updates bugs would go unfixed. Just wait for it to be completed then get on to your chicken kicking.
