Updating PSP from PC help.

After an hour of banging my head against a table, I have given up. How do I update my PSP by downloading the update from my PC? I have the file, fresh from Sony themselves, but I don't know what to do now! I tried replacing the file it's named after but that didn't work. I'm still scouring Sony for help, but being the ENTIRE EUROPE site I have to use, Searching brings up different languages, which is annoying. There is no clear instructions? Help me out guys?

Can't Calumon digivolve objects to better versions of themselves yet? FOCUS, CALUMON! FOCUS!

I'd try and help you, but the last time I used my PSP, it's UMD drive stopped working. And I never bought another one...

All I remember was updating it via UMD. But I did manage to get Wild ARMs on it from the PSN site. This was before I had my PS3, mind you. All I recall about that was that the process was waaaaaaaaay more annoying that it should have been.
