I was all over the Lever Brothers facility in my town one night, just hopped the wall, strolled around for an hour or so, walked through some buildings, and left. There was a curry shop just down the road, when I came out of there with my takeaway there were security guys in the area looking pissed off. I hightailed it.
You a Warringtonian?

I pretty much do Urbex whenever I am looking for good filming locations, and I love it. It's pretty haunting sometimes though if you are ever on your own and hear those weird noises.

Just another note, try and explore with someone else too. A friend and I found some dodgy stuff at an abandoned factory a few months ago.

Exhibit a ) A steel framed chair with untied ropes around all four legs. It looked suspiciously like someone had been tied up and beaten senseless. Found in the main factory floor area, next to a mirror.

Exhibit b) A brown womens strappy top and a pair of hot-pants (size small) in a room out back. Not things you'd expect to find in an out-of town abandoned factory complex.

Needless to say, we notified the local police just in case someone had gone missing wearing clothes like that. The entire complex remined us of a wierd Black Mesa-esque sort of place.......one of the rooms was marked as 'Life Test Room'!!
This creeped me out, though.

I wouldn't reccomend

I think I wanna try this, any Escapists that have any experience with it? Any tips of any kind?

For those who don't know what Urban Exploration is, here's something I pulled off Wikipedia:

"Urban exploration (often shortened as urbex or UE) is the examination of the normally unseen or off-limits parts of urban areas or industrial facilities...
I wouldn't reccomend this, the industrial facility part.

I work as a guard on a medical factory, if i saw someone stroll around the factory at(which is closed off) at night i would only assume they were burglars or possibly junkies, since they would've had to climb the fence to get in.
They would get caught and charged for what they did.

In this case, even though there was no intent of stealing, if they went into the wrong places, production of medicine could be contaminated, and would cause the loss of up to millions of $ this would require them to force their way into the actual buildings, but still.

If they decided to light a smoke in some of the wrong places, there could be explosions as well.

I think the exploring part with drains (sewers?) is cool, but don't tresspass on places with security, alarms or cameras. You're gonna regret it.

I've never done it, but I can see why people would want to do it. I've just never been interested in doing it myself.

I've done a little bit of that. I've been through a couple of abandoned houses, the service tunnels of a mall under construction, a storm drain by my old high school, and the steam tunnels beneath the University of Arizona.

The steam tunnels were brutal. There's still asbestos down there, and some of the sections can get ridiculously hot.

Scariest place I've been were the abandoned houses in Colorado City. I feared we were going to get dragged and beaten by a mob of angry polygamists at any second. Just being in the town was unsettling.

Hmm its usually called trespassing, but i guess telling the judge you were just "urban exploring" might work? Then again when i told them i was just "liberating merchandise" from that best buy the other week it didnt seem to work too well. Good luck.
Maybe the store owner claimed it was a "kidnapping"(or should it be merchnapping?)

I doubt an judge on the planet with half a brain would let them off by being told it was "Urban Exploration".

These people apparently have a death wish as a LOT of these buildings are condemned and/or extremely hazardous for whatever reason.

If you want to explore somewhere...vacaton in the amazon.

Seems boring, walking through empty buildings. At least bring a camera with you and say you're "ghost hunting".

It wouldn't really be trespassing if the building was abandoned years ago, now would it?
It would because the property doesn't belong to you.
Who's gonna show up to tell me to leave if it's abandoned?nobody owns it after all)

It's legal if you do not force entry, do not damage anything, do not take anything without permission and if security asks you to leave you must do so. But it only becomes a criminal offence once you have been asked to leave and don't comply.

There's a video about it from Current.

Depends on where you do it. I know some places prosecute people for tresspassing the second they get spotted on the grounds.
