[HEADING=3]Before Delta City, everyone was obsessed with the apocalypse. I'd watch TV, log onto message boards, and everybody would be talking about the same thing; ?What's Your Zombie Survival Plan? What End Times Story Is The Best??, you know, to suspend their sense of invulnerability. But now, things had changed. The apocalypse had come and gone in the city of Old Detroit, and nobody seemed to care.[/HEADING]

[HEADING=1]Urban Monkey Warfare: A RoboCop Role Play[/HEADING]

[h4]Before making a character sheet, please read the forum sticky regarding roleplaying [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/362.116378].[/h4]

Since the wikipedia entry on Robocop is too long and doesn't really hold that much useful information pertaining to the story, I'll just summarize it quickly.

A company called Omni Consumer Products wants to turn the crime infested city of Old Detroit into a utopia called Delta City. Their method of doing this is by using their corporate status and advanced robotics technology to force the residents from their homes and demolishing them. You are part of the resistance movement, bent on fighting back and reclaiming your homes. As the old saying goes "Live free, or die tryin'".

The world of RoboCop is indeed a grim one. Because of the destruction caused by OmniCorp, crime is more rampant than ever, and the only law enforcement available are the roving, corrupt "ED-209 Urban Pacification Units". Whether they shoot most people on sight is because of a programing error or something darker, remains to be seen. As a member of the resistance, not only will you have to reclaim your home (or, at least, what's left of it), but you will also have to band together with the citizens of Old Detroit to put a stop to the OmniCorp menace for good.

That's not all, either. Due to the police force being replaced by operatives of OmniCorp, you'll have to deal with roving squads of looters and bandits as well. Although taking down OmniCorp would lure even the most insane psychopaths to your side, a state of lawlessness is just too hard to pass up for most people. If you can find time from fighting giant robots, you'll still be faced with the task of creating a stable existence.

You will start off in New Haven (Haven of course being Old Detroit's Red Light District), an abandoned warehouse that is home to most of the sane people left in the city. Granted, there is a lot of risque business going on (the sale of slaves only stopped a couple of months ago), but it is overall a safe place. You will come back here after each mission to rest, stock up on supplies, and get your missions. It's basically a tavern, of sorts.

Name:Richard Tempest
Gender: Male
Profession (doesn't matter that much, just gives you special skills): Tech Support Specialist
Appearance: 6'5", black male, 31 years old. Wears a faded black jacket with no zipper, blue t-shirt, jeans, and ripped shoes.
Bio: Contrary to what Richard thought, Delta City was the best thing that had ever happened to him. Before then, he inhabited a world of blissful ignorance of how he had taken for granted the system he depended on so much. Before then, he would sleep in longer than he needed to, in a house bigger than what he needed, he ate more than he needed. He worked a job he didn't need, to buy more things he didn't need. But now, his world was a world of necessity. Now, he only ate what he could afford to barter or hunt for. Now, he had to walk to places he actually wanted to go to. Now, he only worked for what he needed. It might seem primitive to him, but Delta City has turned this mere office techie into a warrior

If enough people show interest, I will write up a detailed story intro, and give the players their first mission.

Name: Lee Jackson
Gender: Male
Profession: Mechanic
Appearance: Stands around 6', short-ish dark blonde hair, dark blue eyes. Wears blue oil-stained denim jeans and a white short-sleeved shirt over a black vest top. 24 years old.
Bio: Born and raised in the slums of Old Detroit, Lee worked in a small garage just outside of Old Haven. It wasn't much but it kept him in work and out of the spiral of drugs and crime that took most of his old friends. Working late one night with his boss, a gang of OmniCorp-hired thugs broke in and attacked the pair due to Lee's boss's refusal to sell his business. The pair managed to get out of the building, but Lee's boss was gunned down in the street, with Lee taking a bullet to the shoulder. The garage was torched. From that day, Lee's been helping the Resistance do as much damage to OmniCorp as possible.

Name: Akira Halford
Gender: Male
Profession: Former student, now a drop-out
Appearance: 5'9", Asian/Caucasian mix, wears a faded leather jacket over a dirty white T-shirt and dark jeans, frayed at the edges.
Bio: Akira was never the biggest star at his school, where Asians were few in number and not very well treated. His years in school involved lots of brawling, particularly concerning the death of his parents by some violent looters. He sees the general public as much more dangerous than OmniCorp, but he got himself in the Resistance for his own pride. Specifically, he has his eyes on one of the girls at school, and joining is as much about impressing her and his other schoolmates as it is about the fighting against OmniCorp.

I hate to be a nuisance, but when do you plan on posting a sheet?
Oops, sorry I complete forgot, here ya go:

Bio: His father was a janitor and Evan felt obligated to follow in his footsteps. He dropped out of college in his first year and got a job and Omni Consumer Products. He quickly realized the corruption and horrors of the company he worked for and quit. He lived in hiding for a while before joining a group of sane individuals.

Alright, I think we've got a decent number of character sheets. I'll be writing up an intro soon, so anybody who still wants to join will need to make a sheet before the intro is up.

[HEADING=1]Chapter 1: Sleeping Giant[/HEADING]

For once in a while, it's sunny outside. This is the first thing anybody notices all day. Sure, the drug dealers still control everything, and our city is still a brutal hellscape, but it is a beautiful day today.

The resistance was holding it's first meeting today, in the higher levels of the warehouse. Richard, as paranoid as ever, spent most of his time leaning over the parapet to make sure nobody was going to interupt them. Once he was assured that nobody knew about the group or cared, he settled down and addressed the fledgling guerrillas.

?Troops, listen up. I'm sure you're all familiar with how OmniCorp is the scum of the Earth, so let's get straight to business. One of the guys at Thom's Armory says that Omni is supposedly looking for storage space for contraband or weapons or cadavers, or whatever, and are going to be disappointed when they see we've beaten them to the punch. We're going to have to sally forth and ambush them before they can get here-?

Lee interjected ?Thom's Armory? Did the crazy druggy that cleans the weapons tell you about this? How do you know anything's going to be there, let alone an Omni patrol? And wouldn't be better to fight them here??

?They fired that guy days ago. It was Earl, and I'm sure I can trust that guy. He's one hell of a trailblazer, you know. Besides, you see how flat this place is? They'll bring out their heavy artillery and turn us, and everything in here, into a smoking crater. Out best bet is to ambush them, that way, the worst thing we'll have to fight is an ED-209, and if I can sneak up on them good enough? Richard opens a footlocker and takes out a chainsaw ?We won't even have to worry about-?

Just as he was about to continue, he heard the faint sound of sirens. Everybody turned to another with a look of shock. Richard, still holding the chainsaw, ran over to the parapet and yelled ?REHABS! PROTECT YOUR SHIT!? and ran back over to the meeting room. Everybody stood up. Jessica looked tense, and turned to Richard and said, ?What the fuck do we do!??

Richard motioned to a pile of stolen guns in the back of the meeting room, ?Follow me. And for god's sake, Sedrick, don't be a hero. You almost lost a leg last time?. Richard ran down the stairs before Sedrick could respond. By the time everybody was mobilzed, the sound of gunfire had already filled the air, and the OCP was looking for new blood to spill.

Guys, I don't want to have to say this more than once. Make your post saying what YOU do, not when happens to everyone else. Instead of saying, "I shoot that goober in the head and he explodes" just say, "I shoot that goober in the head".

During your exploration of the Robocop world, you will eventually find yourself tons of weapons, ammo, and accessories. In this case, I have given you guys an oppurtunity to go wild and start off with whatever you want, however, be warned. The bigger the weapon you start off with, the harder it will be to find ammo for it, and the harder it will be to repair.

Lee snapped into action and rushed to the weapon pile. Rooting through it, he quickly pulled a G36k carbine from the stack and snapped a magazine in. Stocking up on extra clips, he tucked a Colt M1911 .45 into the waistband of his jeans. He glanced over at the others.

"Come on, you heard the man!"

Cocking the rifle, he hurried out of the room.
