URL Tag Screwup

I tried putting www.zenoclash.com in tags [url='www.zenoclash.com']mix[/url] a little while ago, but once I posted the link directed instead to;
"http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/www.zenoclash.com"

I checked that I hadn't flubbed the url when I typed it in, no I hadn't, even when I altered the format a little to make it a vanilla hyperlink, it was still redirected when posted.

What have I stumbled upon here?

Substituting the square brackets for ease of reading here, I tried putting www.zenoclash.com in tags (url='www.zenoclash.com')mix(/url) a little while ago, but once I posted the link directed instead to;

You need the http. Like this [http://www.zenoclash.com/], which is written as:

You need the http. Like this [http://www.zenoclash.com/], which is written as:
