So what essential and important things NOAA does is NOAA not gonna be able to do now?
Effective and accurate weather data monitoring and collection. There's a reason it's the global fucking standard

That's why you pricks want to kill it, it goes against your "the government sucks at everything" ideology

How is firing people and reducing funding by 30% going to stop NOAA from effective and accurate weather data monitoring and collection?

Also, there's quite a few research articles of NOAA's that I have a feeling you wouldn't agree with.

description
A look into how the tech leaders may be using the new administration to achieve their own agenda. Looking specifically at Peter Thiel, Elon Musk, Marc Andressen, Ben Horotwitz, Brian Armstrong, and David Sacks as well as their relationship with figures like JD Vance, Balaji Srinivasan, and Curtis Yarvin. There is a focused discussion on how a shaping of the government might take place based on convergences between the ideas of Yarvin, who influences the tech libertarian right, and Project 2025, who have authored a playbook exclusively for President Trump to help with his transition to power.

HOW IS CUTTING THEIR STAFF BY 50% AND THEIR BUDGET BY 30% GOING TO STOP NOAA FROM DOING THEIR FUCKING JOBS?

Are you serious right now? Do you have a head injury?

Betcha these tech bros were really into cyberpunk back in high school/college, and saw something aspirational rather than dystopian

Some of them perhaps. Though when musk posts unironically calling the main character in blade runner, just blade runner, the infamous hero mister sir blade runner (evidently of the runner family bloodline), a lil doubt starts accumulating lol

I dunno, tech bros lacking media literacy and tech bros not paying enough attention to remember a main character's name don't seem contradictory to me.

You're under the impression they need all of that to do their job. Let me know when there is a essential/critical/important function NOAA is not able to do anymore. Is it really that hard to tell me this important XYZ thing is no longer being done at NOAA?

In Canada we are really confused by what is going on. There was this big lead up to the tariff war. Trump seemed so set on going that way and everyone was preparing ( I have clients who sell to the US and others who buy and all were scrambling). Then two days later, it is all suspended after Trump talked to the leaders of Canada and Mexico and they promised him to do exactly what they were already going to do. Did we win or is Trump simply going to use it as an excuse to invade Canada?

My guess? Trump is hoping people won't realize that they are simply sticking to the promises they had already made and will be able to spin this as him convincing Canada/Mexico to bend to his whims.

The short answer is that Trump sees tariffs as a threat to get other countries to do what he wants, but is also too stupid/unaware to know if they are already doing that.
