Magic the Gathering - I thought the character was kinda cool, and her name just stuck in my head. It means "lens" in Phyrexian or something. It's a name that isn't already taken most of the time. No one has recognised it yet hehe.

Byere was actually a small, simple to remember username I used for old online browser-based text games I used to play in school. It just stuck and I've been using it as my online nickname ever since.

PS. It's pronounciation is somewhere between "Bear" and "Beer", not "By-ear"... many people make that mistake.

My name came from a long quest of soul searching and discovery after I had survived a near death incident, in a place cold and alone.

But in reality, it's just a fictional name with no background I came up with by myself :p
+1 internetz to you, good sir.

I was playing Adventure Quest and named my character The Dude. I was like 12, shut up.

Anyways, for those who play it, you will know of the Blade Of Awe. Well, I soon got that, and to celebrate, I changed my name to The AweDude.

It's my favorite cocktail. Well second favorite. I don't think Lemon Drop is an interesting name. Anyway here's the recipe.

1 1/2 oz Kirschwasser cherry brandy
5 oz chilled Coca-Cola
juice of 1/2 limes

It's a slight adaption of a character's name from a series of books I read. I use quite a lot of different names on the internet and in online games. I think this is the only place I use this name.

I'm a cynic. Name came around when I was studying Ancient Greece in high school. Other such Grecoafied words involved 'testikles' and 'impossibles'

I was playing Fallout 3, so I was thinking a lot about Radiation... It's not much of a pun, but it'll probably do for a username.

I've gone through three primary names on ze web in my days of floating around it. Initially, it was always "Gorzan" (originally with three n's) because one day when playing some random LotR game I tried to make the most generic nerd-y name I could. I kept it around as a sort of satire whilst on a magic/adventure MMO site, but then found it to be a little juvenile... I ended up just being known as "Dosu" to those who knew me, as that was the character I played in a certain Naruto RP. But now I go by Thespian, because in every day of my life, to those I meet and speak with, I am a Thespian. I am starting to think we all are.

So to those who know me, my casual name, is Dosu. Formally it's Thespian.

"Doc" is both a reference to the past and to my current studies. It's military slang for a combat medic and I am studying medicine for the big job now. LC are my initials, if someone's using my nickname. Much too simple.

Back in high school when they forced us to change our passwords for the school network every so often, I had the idea to go through the squadron list from one of the x-wing novels and use the names and call numbers as my password, and just change to the next one each time, so I'd be able to remember more easily.

I then started using Rogue 9 as a username on a couple of sites (since I'm a big fan of Corran Horn), among other handles, and I just happened to choose to use it on The Escapist when I signed up.

FF9. There's a castle named after me, and apparently I'm a character in a play. Even though fictional from the game's perspective, I thought Ipsen would be an interesting character. And 'Ipsen' is a somewhat coherent and simple name that isn't used all that often online.

I've gone through a lot of usernames over the years, the first was Mystii, that was the name of my dog. Then I went through a LotR phase and my elvish name - Alasse - came out of it, then Mirwyn after I stopped being stupid. Then I hit a giant anime phase and Mikiru was used for a while, then Sanke (the name of one of my RP characters). My immediately previous username, Rawhn, was given to me, randomly generated by a neopets password reset code generator. I liked it, so I used it. And mekashiyu, my current one...I jacked it. There was a type random letters thread on GaiaOnline (from back when I was into that stuff) where someone's button-mashing induced the characters "mekashiyu." I thought it was cool so I took the name and ran with it. I haven't been caught yet and it's unique enough to never be used anywhere else, so yay. >.>

Oh and also my backup accounts all have the username hasarx, which is my nobody name. I went through a Kingdom Hearts phase too, yeah. I'm really impressionable, it seems.

I planned it as my GamerTag even before I got my 360. It's PoliceBox from Doctor Who and 63 from the year 1963 when Doctor Who first aired :)
