Hey all,

I work in an office, and just now I actually found a giant medicine ball in one of the closets. After seeing someone use it in the Escapist pokewalker special I am suddenly intrigued by the experience. What are the benefits of using a ball instead of an actual chair? Is it for pure entertainment? Or is there an actual therapeutic idea behind it? Will I get laughed at? ;)

Thanks in advanced for the info!

Well for one you will lose all back support of a chair, you will probably fall off of it, then get laughed at.

Yes well at least I am in an enclosed office, and not a cubicle. So the worst would be either a frightening combo of person walking in/ simultaneous loss of control. Which may just be funny enough for me to be able to laugh at myself, or just making a loud bang and hearing snickers in the other room.

Perhaps you should ask the escapist's own Jordan Deam?

Now, where's he gotten too? Probably rolled away on his ball again...

They say it helps build inner core muscles, which helps you in day to day life and also helps prevent back strain and such by having a stronger core. It is easily recommended by physicians, if you use it correctly.

Some people claim that it's good for their posture and makes them more comfortable. It mostly just makes my back hurt.

Im using it right now, and while I feel like there is a lot of pressure that was removed from my lower back, I am having this compulsion to roll it around and around, is that the incorrect thing to do? Should I be staying ramrod straight with no movement?

Wow, quite a serious discussion for whats really a giant bouncy ball :)

I think perhaps that you are misinformed as to what a "medicine ball" is, as I cannot imagine that sitting on one would be very comfortable.

That said, an excercise ball is supposed to be good for your leg muscles and lower back. I had one briefly, but I mostly just played with it (bounce bounce bounce) and then when I was stuck on a conference call and suddenly found that I couldn't lean back in my chair, I decided it was time for the ball to go.

Its odd because it most certainly is not a medicine ball that I normally see (those small round heavy as hell things) However it has "Medicine Ball" In large print on the side. Could be a brand name maybe?
