I only curse around certain people, like family members. But as soon as the parents' backs are turned, nothing is sacred. You should hear my brother and I when we're playing RE5.

Samples:

"Fucking Lickers!"

"Fuck you crocodile!"

"Heal me fuckwad!"

"Burn asswipe!"

"Oh fuck you! I pressed it!" [during QTE's]

[on the evaluations at the end of every chapter and we didn't get an "S"] "What did we fuck up on this time?"

"Jill you *****!"

"Get the shit! Get the shit!" ("shit" being any treasure, ammo, etc).

"Back away! Back away!" [You Are Dead] "Dumbass..."

"Shut the fuck up Josh."

Why explain when I can just use Stephen Fry?
Cool video but... he didn't explain anything. He just said "it's like this" and that's it.
and I'm a living contradiction to every last one of his quite honestly flawed statements.

he said that people who swear have a vast vocabulary and people who don't, don't...

then explain why I have one of the largest vocabulary at my school and I never swear, and everyone else has an apparent speech impediment where everything they say is about 3-5 words long, no word is longer then 2 syllables and half the time one of those words is "F***"

also I can actually read, while they struggle trying to sound out the word "ration" saying things like "RAY-ON?" instead of "RASH-EN"

it's quite sad really, and then they go so far as to try and insult me because I don't swear

so to get back to the argument
I've proven how swearing IS a lack of intelligence/vocabulary
he merely said "this is how it is" and sounded rather pompous and full of himself...
come to think of it I probably sound the same way right now, but at least I'm making a point!

More than I feel I should. Anti-swearing upbringing and all. I do it because my friends do it and about as much as they do it. It all goes along my social chameleon nature.

swearing or 'cursing' is essentially just language
you say fuck nothing actually happens
people only get offended at the word because they're supposed to
there's no real reason for it. the word itself is a meaningless noise unless we connotate something to it

but swearing is kind of a good thing in the sense that by keeping these words taboo
we can add maximum impact to our speech by using them in the right way
it doesn't show a lack of intellegence or vocabulary
it just optimises what you're trying to convey

I use them a lot. Not because I think it makes me look "cool", I use them simply because they are frowned upon in society which makes it all the more fun to use them.
so it?s because being different to everybody is considered ?Cool??..

OT: shit, piss, fuck, ****, cocksucker, ************, and Tits....Yeh I need to grow up?.
you admit you need to grow up

that earns you more respect and you've already made more progress then a lot of people.

you haven't proven anything
you've given us an example which has no real sample size
and said 'look! these people (in my opinion) are idiots and they swear, i don't and i'm clever. you see, the twain are linked!'
it doesn't prove anything either way

He didn't say that people who didn't swear didn't have a big vocabulary, he said that people who say that swearing originates from a lack of vocabulary often don't.

A word cannot be "bad". Ideas can be offensive, but not words. When I say "What the fuck?", I am not referring to intercourse, I am just expressing myself in a direct and easy way. Therefore I swear all the fucking time. (With people I know, of course.)

I swear quite a lot, just part of the way I speak. Swedish is fairly tame though, or at least it's become so due to swearing not being considered rude for the most part. At least we have a fairly wide variety of sear words, so there is a bit of variation.

I don't swear too often, but I'm generally not bothered by those who do.
When it gets to the point where it's profanity between every other word, then I get rather ticked off at that.

Bugger tends to be my favourite swear. >.>

Yeah I do from time to time I try not to over-use though I do when I'm angry sometimes. Its annoying how they all have to be god damn euphemisms for sex and bodily fluids if not then people would fucking understand them as words to express frustration and emphasis and they probably wouldn't be fucking "bad" words.

The word "bastard" is a particular favorite of mine. Mostly because it's the most enjoyable to say when you're yelling at someone.

Very rarely, and then only under my breath when subjected to fresh evidence of the incompetence of our IT staff.

I fuckin' swear because I can't be fucked not to. It's fucking ludicrous that somebody should be offended by a fucking word. People swear. Get over it. (^^)
