I go for the head, unless I'm out too far for VATS to hit with a greater than 50% chance, in which case I just iron sight it and go for the head myself. Thankfully since I'm pretty decent at shooters I can almost always pull off the headshot without needing to rely on VATS.

I hit guys in the head, animals and Deathclaws in the legs, Insects in the antenna and if mutants have large weapon *snort* I shoot it out of their hands before going for the legs.

Seems to work okay. Stealth and a sniper rifle are things I use most.

Funny thing about VATS. I like to go for alot of things, dependent on who or what it is and how vulnerable it might be. Check this out.

Radscorpions - The tails.
Most humanoid targets - The heads.
Cazadors - Doesn't matter. They've got low armor.
Things on four legs - The heads, but that's because the torso is BEHIND the head.
Giant Mantids - ***

The funny thing about the New Vegas mantis is that there's a funny glitch to it. The right claw - or the left - does this thing where it'll be at 95% rate to hit at a distance while the rest are lower. You shoot it and the mantis explodes. It's funny.

Always the head if it has a reasonable accuracy. In my current file though it's almost always 95% at most ranges with any gun that doesn't have crappy spread. I have various perks that increase accuracy in VATS.

always the head. if you shoot anything else without a definite reasn (like getting them to drop a particularly nasty weapon, like a heavy weapon) then it's always head.

I'm just going to quote some random guy I met. "If it's not in the head, you're wasting ammo."

I aim for the legs. Reasonably high chance to hit, and makes em easier to run down in melee.

In the groin with a turbo plasma rifle, never gets old. That's what I missed in the newer Fallouts, they needed more crotch shoots...er no I don't mean like that >.>

Basically... This. Unless they`re really hurting me, then I might shoot their weapon. XD

I play a sniper based character so I like shooting the head. If I can hit the head (50%+) then I'll aim for the head, if not then I'll adjust to get a better shot or if I'm desperate I'll take out the legs on a melee character or I'll aim for the torso.

I hit em where it hits.
If i have a 70% chance at the chest, and 20% at the head, im putting a few rounds in his center of mass.

So my answer, where ever i have the highest percentage.
