Hello escapists!
I know that most of you live in the USA, so I want to ask you the following questions -
What should I do or avoid doing while staying in the USA for a period of roughly three weeks?
I'm travelling with my parents and brother to meet my uncle and my two cousins, My Uncle is 49 and the two brother are older than me, one of them is 22 and the other one is 26.
I'll be visiting them in the State of NY in Long Island, and he will show us around the city. I suppose my mother will stay with her brother throughout the trip and I'll be dragging my younger brother around with me. What should I see in NYC? Do you recommend anything special?
After that I will be going to Columbia District and see the Capital of the USA for about four days. Any suggestions about what to do there besides the obvious ones? (And I did consider going to the Smithsonian).
Later we will be going to Orlando for the mandatory trip to Disney Land *vomits slightly in his mouth*, but I will make the most of it, no doubt about it. Then it's off to Florida, Miami for a day and a half where we will board a cruse to the Bahamas. Which is, like I told my parents, incredibly dull, because unlike them, my only attractions would be buffet food and snorkel diving.
.
Hopefully you can all help me here!

From my experiences....

-Watch for rush hour traffic (7-9am, 5-6pm) plan your car trips around it. Sounds obvious, but in DC and New York, its horrible. I've spent 2 hours on the freeway outside of DC during rush hour. NOT FUN.

-Have'nt been to NYC yet, can't tell you too much about the best places. Time Square and downtown are safe bets, I've heard that the statue of liberty is time consuming and boring though (-several of my friends who went said this, don't know myself.)

-Go out of your way and check out some of the other attractions in Orlando. Its got amazing restuarants and bars there, and many of the hotel restuarants are actually 5-star. The city has A LOT to offer, so take a look around.

-In Disney world, you might want to use the FastPass tickets, which will ensure that you aren't sitting in lines for half your stay (We're talking 2-hour lines here). Then again, it is February, so the lines might be shorter...

-Enjoy yourself, have fun, and be open to trying new things. Have a good vacation and i hope this helpped!

Cheers

EDIT- BTW, get a sweatshirt, NYC is gonna be cold at this time of year.
