Validating steam games

so i just closed L4D2 and then whent back in but found that i couldnt connect to any severs only to find out i needed to validate the game files this is the 2nd time in a week does this happen because i defragmented my disk?

Pardon? Also more detail. Does your copy have an allergic reaction to updates, or something?

First time I've heard of a defrag messing with a Steam game.

Im not sure if it was the defrag but i couldnt think of anything else, basically it was working 1 moment but when i tryed to play a few seconds later i needed to do the validate game chache in the properties menu and it found 1 file missing

i dont think so i had a virus a few weeks ago but im pretty sure its sorted out Mcafee, Malbytes and a few online virus detectors stopped finding anything. and yea its probably just L4D2 freaking out over the no mercy DLC since that was what i was playing before it happened
