Basically I need advice on how to not have a breakdown. I've never had a partner on valentines day in my 21 years of living, everyone is going to post it on various forums/FB about "Me and blah did blah and I love him/her sooooooooooooooooo much xoxox" and it also marks 2 years since my bitter ex dumped me out of the blue.

So far my only option I can think of is stay home, drink lots of bourbon and play Team Fortress 2 all day. :|

When everyone around you reminds you of her, treat everyone around you as if they were her.

On second thought, this is bad advice. Do not follow this advice.

I've never had a valentine either. Granted i've had girl friends, but never on valentines day.

But i think the day is a bit of a farce, it's when we are meant to treat each other a lot more romantically than usual. Personally i treat my girl friends like its valentines day every day, because they deserve nothing less.

But i generally won't be caring, though seeing married/taken friends getting all loved up may remind me of my singleness.

while that sounds like fun, playing a multiplayer game may not be the best of ideas for obvious reasons.

have alot of other games on standby, cut the drink and there you go.

besides a hangover isnt going to be fun when being forced to listen to other peoples valentines days story's. Yes you will have to listen to them eventually unless you hide for about a week or two and besides you may "accidentally" post abusive messages on her facebook if you get absolutely bladdered.

I say: Ignore the social networks for awhile, and do the stuff you find fun, and play it pretty much like a normal day. Better still, if you have other single friends, you could do something together and help each other.

Being a day you broke up with someone, I can see it being hard ^^. I'd also suggest layin' off the drink, unless you're really sure it ain't gonna make things worse.

Just make plans with friends who aren't doing anything that day. If that doesn't pan out, then just do whatever you would find fun that won't remind you it's Valentine's Day. That's what I'm going to do if I don't work that day. I've never had a Valentine on that day, nor have I ever been in a relationship. In short, I just act like it's just a regular day. It works for me, at least. But, if you are going to drink, take it easy. It might make things worse.
