So what's the reason for Episode 3?
I haven't read every bit of news coming from Valve, but have they even mentioned Episode 3 at all in the past many, many, many months? Despite the fact that so many people are asking about it, haven't they not said a single word about it?
Valve actually did tell fans to <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/108821-Valve-Says-Hang-In-There-For-Half-Life-2-Episode-3>hang on for future Half Life developments. But they've also said they're <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/109857-Valve-Outgrows-Its-Episodes-Phase>not releasing any more episodic titles. So fingers crossed for Half Life 3.

By the way Valve, where are the promised <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/103176-Gabe-Newell-Three-Big-Announcements-From-Valve-in-Next-Year>three surprises for this year, hmmm?

I couldn't agree more with them in this case. If a reasonable delay makes a game better, I'm all for it. And c'mon, did anyone actually think Valve wouldn't delay Portal 2? At this point, you just kind of have to assume you're going to get at least a couple of months of delay with any Valve release. And unlike some studios, who delay a game and it's still not ready for release when they do release it, I trust that Valve will actually produce a good game after that delay, as opposed to... oh... Duke Nukem Forever, perhaps?

I was extremely excited for P2, and I was still okay for it to be delayed. I mean, it's not like it was a big surprise! Besides, with Valve, it's always worth it. I do wonder what they did with the time, the ARG is a good guess.

Well good for them, this makes me happy, I'd rather have quality over quantity any day of the week.

Disappointed that they didn't go into details about what changes were made, but the important thing is that the end result is good.

wouldn't it be fun (and shocking) if valve announced that Ep3 is finished and coming out in a month and they already started working on Half-Life 3..

Huh, funny thing about that article is that they are saying they are doing this to shorten development cycles, but the funny thing about that is that is what they said about their episodic game creation and we all are still seeing how well that worked out for shortening the waiting time.

It was to add the hats, that was obviously it.
Episode 3 is delayed because they're still trying to find a way to fit hats into it in a way that will make them rich.

Honestly? I think Left 4 Dead 2 and Portal 2 were not good reasons for Valve to not work on Episode 3.

Everyone will be so shocked when they release Half Left Portals: Episode 3.2

I'm saying it now, they're all in the same universe, all these games they released since announcing ep3 have been the build up! Its the only explenation, the only one!!

The time Valve takes to develop a game is directly proportional to the quality of the final product. We've seen the proof in Half Life 2, Team Fortress 2, and Left 4 Dead, and for that I trust them to make HL2: Episode 3 as good as possible.
