Bah. I'll believe a Valve game is released when I have it in my hands and I'm putting it in my system. Valve's track record is too messed up to believe anything else.

Yes, but the quality of their games are nearly spotless. That in my standards is much more important.
I don't care about Valve time as long as they make a game that makes the patience all worth it.

This is nothing new really...
The problem with valve time is that IF HL2E3 ever comes out, if it isn't completely perfect, everyone will hate it.

Valve puts out extremely high-quality games.

Valve lets its development cycle stretch on for as long as it needs to.

Protip: These two facts are not unrelated.

Also that Valve cares about polish and whatnot before releasing a game.

No matter how good Ep3 is, no matter how quickly it releases, someone will hate it.
