February 19, 2010 - PlayStation 3 owners have been dying to get a chance to play Valve's zombie franchise Left 4 Dead for some time. But now it looks like there's reason to start holding out hope.

While the studio has had harsh things to say about Sony's console in the past, Valve appears to be finally be warming up to the idea of developing for it.

Left 4 Dead writer Chet Faliszek recently told Edge the developer has been cautious with its approach to supporting the platform, but said he believes it'll happen eventually.

"Before we do anything on the PS3 we need to be able to support it in the right way," said Faliszek. "But we'll look at it, and I'm sure down the road we'll do it."

The PlayStation 3 version of The Orange Box, released in 2007, was outsourced to Electronic Arts while the Xbox 360 and PC versions were done internally at Valve's studio in Bellevue, Washington.

We contacted Valve for additional comments and will update this story if we hear back.

I guess people who only own a ps3 will finally get the chance. maybe L4D and L4D2 will get released in like a pack or maybe it will be for L4D3 (you know it will come in the near future or so. :D)

This was mentioned on Kotaku [http://kotaku.com/5476146/valve-will-return-to-the-ps3-eventually] as well.

I like how Valve seems to imply that development on the 360 is any better, despite the blatant lack of major support or updates for TF2 on it due to what they last said was 'memory issues'.
Oh well, I play Valve's games on the PC now anyway.

Valve is one of those developers you want on the PC and not on a console. So even though they do start releasing games on the PS3, I'm still going to play them on PC. That's just what Vavle does best.

Wait... yeah, good luck with that, guys. They'll probably master PS3 architecture around time PS5 comes out.

The real reason is probably because Microsoft wants profit from what it regards as DLC.

Don't quote me on that, of course, It's just my theory.

OT: ... Yay? Valve games(and Bethesda's) are better on PC anyway. More support, and you get mods!

This is good news. Maybe I'll finally get an EP 3 to go with my Orange Box.

That made me chuckle, thanks.

Really the only Valve game I ever liked was L4D & Half Life and even they weren't stellar. I wouldn't get it for a PS3 either. Those games just are meant for a PC IMO.
