I'm a bit... worried about this. Valve REALLY needs to update the damn source engine. And by update, I mean write a new engine. It still looks alright completely maxed out, but it's not getting any younger.

Jungle environments? What I liked about the first portal was the really cool, sterile rooms. Completely contrasted with the nitty behind the scenes factory-esque rooms. I took it to be allegorical; the fact that not everything is as it seems on the surface, and if you just look a little past that you can see the true, ugly nature behind everything.

Am I the only one who thought Portal was boring? Just as much as people ***** about halos popularity, I think Portal is also over hyped, I do hope Portal 2 is good mind you but yeah I thought Portal sucked.

Cool, but am I seriously the only person who thinks that Valve's deliberately procrastinating working on Episode 3 here?

That being said, I can't wait to see Portal 2 :D

Portal 2 will be more than a return to Aperture, it'll also be the best project Valve has ever done.

Portal 2's great. It's the best game we've ever done."
Now, if you'll avert your eyes to "project Valve has EVER done", since Valve has not completed Ep 3, it could be the BEST GAME EVER AND CRUSH PORTAL 2 UNDER It'S FEET AND MAKE IT SHRINK TO THE SIZE OF AN ANT AND MAKE VALVE MILLIONS but it still hasn't been made yet! So while we wait let's get excited about this, I know I am.

Flap, flap, flap.

Its already funny when they make an announcement - its like the master of the universe himself is gonna say something. It usually starts with :
Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Half-Life, Portal, Team Fortress, and Counter-Strike) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced...

Ok i admit - Portal was one of the (rare) games i really enjoyed playing. Fight with GladOS was really funny and you actually needed to use the brains to finish some puzzles - unlike most of the games today (walk and shoot everything).

I will try Portal2 that is certain, but i will wait for a weekend deal or something. Not paying more than 10-15? for any Valve game again. After their lies about L4D im just not ready to buy any of their games for full price - never again, and thats a promise. They produce good games, but they can not fuck me up more than once.

Ya see how exciting and interesting that is? I mean, they've have to have done some MAJOR rehauling of Portal to make it even get close to the peg that Half-Life2 achieved, especially after HL2:Ep1 and HL2:Ep2....most definitely after the last part of Ep2.
Half Life 2 was crap in my opinion. Throw you in the middle of a story and not tell you that story until the following game? Garbage. That's what you call piss poor story telling. I mean why the hell is Gordon killing all those guys? If I'm Gordon, and I don't know what's going on, why do I go and kill like 500 humans? Assault bases, and so forth. Makes no sense motivation wise. But anyway whatever.

The episodes were actually good. I actually got into the story and started to enjoy it. That's why I'm peeved Ep3 hasn't come out yet. And why there seems to be little to no news about it coming out any time soon.
You must have not thoroughly played HL2...
From the very beginning you're introduced to back story from main characters (many from the first HL. The guy that saves Gorden's butt at the security check point explains some of what's happening, the doctors on the screen talk more and even say "nice to see you again, Gordon Freeman, haven't seen you since the Black Masa incident".

Later on in the game you're introduced to even more information, such as how a guy that Gordon worked with previously is now Human Ambassador at the citadel. And you'll see during the screwed up teleport, who he's answering to and "what" they are as well as some more info. All over the walls of the buildings and the city, not to mention the city checkpoints, you'll discover story of what's going on and what's occuring.

Oh, and the Combine are not humans, they're an invasive species and race from another dimension that broke through during botched experiments at Black Mesa Research Facility during the first HL. They've taken over Earth, invaded, and are now in control of everyone and everything (except for the resistance, who Gorden meets, helps, and gets help from).

No, Portal as Portal. THIS will be portal 2 :D

I only wish I'd heard about it later 'cause now I'm gonna be on edge waiting for it for ages.

This just makes me think it will be worse than expected.

It's just how I work.
"This is a sequel...we did what we could, to please, our fans..."

Seriously, I am calling this to be a disappointment.

the first portal gave me motion sickness why would I return for more?
Someone can't handle anything.

Anyway, the escapist as a news network is slow. I use feeds (from kotaku and other places) to get my news. And i'm a regular on the steam forums (stay away from the TF2 forum).
This is old news XD

they've delivered nothing but wonderful quality games. With the exception of Steam requiring you to be connected to the internet, they've also been very lenient when it comes to DRM.
Actually, it doesn't, steam needs you to be online when downloading the games and playing online, but the offline games like portal can be played in offline mode, so you can play even if your internet connection is down.
Well, my steam is the way you say, but I've heard complaints that you have to be connected to the internet not only to install it in the first place, but also whenever you want to change to offline mode as well. These complaints might be utter bullshit, but I'm not enough of a fan to turn a blind eye to a potential flaw, even if it doesn't effect me.
What I've experienced is that if you try logging in while offline then it says you are offline and asks you if you would like to login in offline mode.
I think people are complaining because there is an option in steam settings to save profile details on your computer, and if you don't want them to do that then you can't use offline mode, and you need to be online to change that I think.
