Valve are truly great developers with an outstanding business plan. What I don't understand is how can other developers say that they need to sell DLC and charge for online (xbox live) and oh, waaah, piracy and PC gaming is worthless, waah when they see Valve rolling in dough even if they're giving us plentiful free updates and DLC...

And you know this is great news and people are major excited since we've got almost 2 full pages of Valve-news without a single mention of Episode 3 (whoops).

They're giving (free for the most part) content to both games, I don't get the complaint. A game can't retroactively become an expansion pack, real life doesn't work that way.

OT: I don't even L4D1 or 2 (every time I go to grab the latter in a Steam sale I have no money), but I'd just like to tell Valve I love them very much.

This is the most epic piece of news ever... of all time. I just really hope it's longer than 3 stages (looking at you The Passing); I mean come on it's only one stage away from being a full legitimate 4 part campaign like Dead Centre why not put in that little bit of effort to make it a real campaign and not just filler. But thats just a small gripe no matter what it is I'll fork out that 560 Microsoft points every time. Valve your awesome and I hope you never change

But wow, here's a thought. Both games run on the same engine, what happens if a full integration between the two happens? If L4D1 can handle melee weapons, what if it could be completely integrated with L4D2 new special infected and maps as well?

Both games could have DLC that pretty much gives them the same game, so L4D1 players get L4D2 content, and vice versa.

Who doesn't want to see an Ellis/Zoey tag team?

It's easy to do when you've monopolised the PC market. Harder to do when you have to pay the person who has the free DLC to sell games through said monopolized service.

It's just economics, don't worry too much.

I think it is Microsoft, not EA that is stopping the console updates. Microsoft wants to charge for all the free PC updates and VALVe won't let that happen.
