That's part of what I consider the poblem. The fact that 10,000,000 love something doesn't mean it becomes better, it just means it's well known.Mr.K. said:Well you haveto understand CS much like StarCraft has transcendent into a sport, and with sports people want consistency.manythings said:How about working with modders to make a new Natural Selection? Vampire Hunter? Desert Crisis? The Specialists? All far better then fucking CS.
But if you suggested these mods to the devs they might look into them for new game modes.
I know but still. With Valve support it could be pushed forward a huge amount, instead CS is getting crapped out again.NLS said:Natural Selection 2 has been in development for quite some time by Unknown Worlds on their own in-house engine. I may not like CS either, but the numbers dont lie. If you check the daily activity on steam, you'd see that CS and CSS consistently top the charts in most played game in the steam client almost every single day. I wanna see HL3, but I gotta admit it would be stupid for valve to overlook such an opportunity to make a mint off of a sequel to their most popular product.manythings said:How about working with modders to make a new Natural Selection? Like I've already said I know about NS2 and that is what makes this all the worse, in my opinion, they are choosing American Idol over a lesser known product of actual worth to make more money they don't need while people still don't get that Valve is run for Valve's benefit. The customer isn't the first concern.Echo136 said:I may not like CS either, but the numbers dont lie. And if you hadnt noticed, Natural Selection 2 is already being made. Granted, from the looks of it it'll be a little far off. http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/
I hate to say it but... A company that wants to make money? Whodathunkit. Seriously, wanting to make money doesnt automatically make them evil. That just makes them capitalistic.manythings said:Like I've already said I know about NS2 and that is what makes this all the worse, in my opinion, they are choosing American Idol over a lesser known product of actual worth to make more money they don't need while people still don't get that Valve is run for Valve's benefit. Shit is shit no matter how popular it becomes.
I'm with you, CS is a brilliant FPS, it took what I like about doom * run an gun gameplay, unrelenting learning, but it was fun* and made it modern team vs team shooter.Grey_Focks said:The irony of that statement has hopefully hit you by now.Proverbial Jon said:Hey Valve! How about you stop making remakes of old games and finish Episode 3 already, hmmm?
OT: Well that's neat, I feel like I'm one of the few people on this site genuinely excited for CS:GO....and by the looks of this thread, I just may be the only person. Hopefully they just haven't gotten up yet.
Want to know why they won't remake those? Because their plate is bloody full, Dota 2, CS GO, and Episode 3, their just being hushed mouth on it, anyways.manythings said:Like I've already said I know about NS2 and that is what makes this all the worse, in my opinion, they are choosing American Idol over a lesser known product of actual worth to make more money they don't need while people still don't get that Valve is run for Valve's benefit. But that's how sports are, when was the last time Chess, Baseball, Football, Basketball,... got better, sure all of it got polished up to make it a better spectator sport but the basic mechanics can never change or you lose the exact audience you try to appease.manythings said:That's part of what I consider the poblem. Thank you for saying to me what I said to you. I get it's a company, it annoys me so many other people don't get that fact and act like Valve are some kind of Robin Hood-esque folk heroes fighting the forces of corporate greed for the commoners.Echo136 said:I hate to say it but... But my point is that it's not a good game. There have been far better ones. NS for tactical play and branching team paths, The Specialists and Desert Crisis for batshit insane action and Vampire Hunter because it just had great feel and balancing.Mr.K. said:But that's how sports are, when was the last time Chess, Baseball, Football, Basketball,... got better, sure all of it got polished up to make it a better spectator sport but the basic mechanics can never change or you lose the exact audience you try to appease.manythings said:That's part of what I consider the poblem. And this is the same for CS, what they can do is polish it up further, make the connectivity easier, put down some ranks, ladders, matchmaking, put in tournaments, and greater spectator capabilities, map editors, map sharing, map ranking,.... not to forget new game modes can switch up gameplay alot.
There is always alot more to do even if you don't change the core game.
Let's ask the question, "What can Valve do completely for free whenever they feel like it?"Aprilgold said:Want to know why they won't remake those? Now, I think they wouldn't sell a shit ton of copies until a sale, I never heard of those games before, so they would need to advertise, with CS Go, they don't need to, Episode 3, they don't need too, same with Dota, they just don't need to. So they can actually FOCUS on the game, not marketing.
Its not that they want to only make MONEY, its just that their plate is full as hell.
Personal preference my friend, everyone picks their favorites.manythings said:But my point is that it's not a good game. There have been far better ones.
I've screamed in excited terror many a time playing zombie mod.Irridium said:As have I.Corporal Yakob said:I've had good times on CS:S with zombie survival games and those ones where everyone has to run through a series of obstacles to escape a map before it blows up or something (Escape? The most fun I've had on Counter-Strike came from the zombie survival/escape mods.
In college I ran a CS:S server on-campus: GG Deathmatch, Turbo, Reverse Order.SpAc3man said:Fucking love CS:S Gun Game. lol, i can't quite figure out if your a troll or not.... just because you don't like something doesn't mean that it shouldn't be made, if that was the case nothing would ever get made at allmanythings said:But my point is that it's not a good game.
