Valve is like a brilliant artist with ADHD. Episode Three is his great unfinished magnum opus, and CS:GO is a shiny thing. Knowing Valve, I'm sure it'll be a very well-made, perfectly executed shiny thing, but I DON'T WANT SOME SHINY THING, I WANT THE MASTERPIECE I WAS PROMISED!

Sorry about that. Here, Gabe, you need this more than anyone:

How about working with modders to make a new Natural Selection? Vampire Hunter? Desert Crisis? The Specialists? All far better then fucking CS.
Well you haveto understand CS much like StarCraft has transcendent into a sport, and with sports people want consistency.

But if you suggested these mods to the devs they might look into them for new game modes.
That's part of what I consider the poblem. The fact that 10,000,000 love something doesn't mean it becomes better, it just means it's well known.

Natural Selection 2 has been in development for quite some time by Unknown Worlds on their own in-house engine. If you've preordered the game, you can play the beta right now.
I know but still. With Valve support it could be pushed forward a huge amount, instead CS is getting crapped out again.

I may not like CS either, but the numbers dont lie. If you check the daily activity on steam, you'd see that CS and CSS consistently top the charts in most played game in the steam client almost every single day. I wanna see HL3, but I gotta admit it would be stupid for valve to overlook such an opportunity to make a mint off of a sequel to their most popular product.

And if you hadnt noticed, Natural Selection 2 is already being made. Granted, from the looks of it it'll be a little far off. http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/

Like I've already said I know about NS2 and that is what makes this all the worse, in my opinion, they are choosing American Idol over a lesser known product of actual worth to make more money they don't need while people still don't get that Valve is run for Valve's benefit. The customer isn't the first concern.

Shit is shit no matter how popular it becomes.

I hate to say it but... A company that wants to make money? Whodathunkit. Seriously, wanting to make money doesnt automatically make them evil. That just makes them capitalistic.

Well, have to say, does anyone actually care for any of the characters in Episode 3?
Counter Strike Source hasn't really had much else for quite some time, can we please shut the hell up so fans of this, who have been patient, get their turn?

Relating to my first post, what makes YOU want Episode 3. Just more crowbaring aliens, or seeing characters grow, what makes YOU want it.

Hey Valve! How about you stop making remakes of old games and finish Episode 3 already, hmmm?
The irony of that statement has hopefully hit you by now.

OT: Well that's neat, I feel like I'm one of the few people on this site genuinely excited for CS:GO....and by the looks of this thread, I just may be the only person. Hopefully they just haven't gotten up yet.
I'm with you, CS is a brilliant FPS, it took what I like about doom * run an gun gameplay, unrelenting learning, but it was fun* and made it modern team vs team shooter.

Want to know why they won't remake those? Because their plate is bloody full, Dota 2, CS GO, and Episode 3, their just being hushed mouth on it, anyways.

Now, I think they wouldn't sell a shit ton of copies until a sale, I never heard of those games before, so they would need to advertise, with CS Go, they don't need to, Episode 3, they don't need too, same with Dota, they just don't need to. So they can actually FOCUS on the game, not marketing.

Its not that they want to only make MONEY, its just that their plate is full as hell.

But that's how sports are, when was the last time Chess, Baseball, Football, Basketball,... got better, sure all of it got polished up to make it a better spectator sport but the basic mechanics can never change or you lose the exact audience you try to appease.

And this is the same for CS, what they can do is polish it up further, make the connectivity easier, put down some ranks, ladders, matchmaking, put in tournaments, and greater spectator capabilities, map editors, map sharing, map ranking,.... not to forget new game modes can switch up gameplay alot.
There is always alot more to do even if you don't change the core game.

Thank you for saying to me what I said to you. I get it's a company, it annoys me so many other people don't get that fact and act like Valve are some kind of Robin Hood-esque folk heroes fighting the forces of corporate greed for the commoners.

But my point is that it's not a good game. There have been far better ones. NS for tactical play and branching team paths, The Specialists and Desert Crisis for batshit insane action and Vampire Hunter because it just had great feel and balancing.

CS is guys with guns shooting other guys with guns while talking about how the other guys so totally are fag sniper lol homoz. You might as well pick extreme walking over american football.

Let's ask the question, "What can Valve do completely for free whenever they feel like it?"

The answer: Get $100,000,000 worth of free press just by announcing they have a new something in the works. Every single time they announce anything at all the internet combusts and every website has "Valve has [whatever] coming [whenever]" right on the front page for days. Don't think that's enough? Try the 25-ish million people who own steam accounts and every time they load up Steam an ad that costs less than a penny to make and put out appears saying "Check this shit out! We've made a thing."

Valve are not having a problem selling products to people and they certainly aren't hurting for talent or people who would even work for free just to say they worked at Valve.

Personal preference my friend, everyone picks their favorites.
To me CS seemed pretty damn perfect for what it was, but I much prefer big extravagant sci-fi shooters like UT.

I've had good times on CS:S with zombie survival games and those ones where everyone has to run through a series of obstacles to escape a map before it blows up or something (Escape? Leg it?).....
As have I.

The most fun I've had on Counter-Strike came from the zombie survival/escape mods.
I've screamed in excited terror many a time playing zombie mod.

Fucking love CS:S Gun Game. Reverse Gun Game was pretty much all I used to play apart from the occasional Scoutzknivez to help hone my sniping and knifing. Which it did to the great annoyance of my friends when having a LAN match.
In college I ran a CS:S server on-campus: GG Deathmatch, Turbo, Reverse Order.

I felt that having the default order rewarded people who got an early lead, rather than rewarding those who are consistently good with all weapons. Reverse order helps the players who are "behind" from getting frustrated, and it helps keep the good players from getting bored because it's too easy.

lol, i can't quite figure out if your a troll or not.... just because you don't like something doesn't mean that it shouldn't be made, if that was the case nothing would ever get made at all
