And for an excuse for it to be made, they'll probably attach a trailer for HL ep 3 as some sort of easter egg that an obsessive fan will find and spread around the net like wild fire.
I doubt it, although it would be cool.

Or is that a reference to that one video, "Possible Half-Life Easter-Egg in Meet the Medic?"
BEEP

That answer your question?

XD
I thought so.

But at least the Downfall parodies that guy makes are pretty funny, so I guess it all evens out. XD

I think Valve should stop making cutesy little short films and focus on game development for once.

Valve will get around to it and HL3 eventually. I'm starting the think that when you get a job at Valve they make you immortal so you get take your sweet time with everything.

I don't understand how just because Meet The Medic was an announcement for an update, it's impossible for Meet The Pyro to be one too.
The point is that the "Meet The ..." videos are promotional material. Is Valve likely, now, to have any other reason to create promotional videos for a freely available game that has more or less reached the end of its update spiral?
Where exactly is this assumption that Valve isn't going to update TF2 anymore coming from?

Well, let's see ...

They already have Mannconomy.
They SHOULD NOT add another class.
All classes have gotten an update.
They already have the video replay feature.
They've already made the game free.
They already have an upload hat/weapon feature.
The ability to make maps, skins, models, animations, etc has been around since day 1 (good ol' Source engine).
There are enough game modes and unofficial game modes.

What else can they do, exactly? Or, a much, much better question, what else SHOULD they do? Being able to and should doing are two very different things. For instance: the upcoming Battleship movie. Yes, they could (and did) do it, but SHOULD they have? I rest my case.

Thank you, Pyro could be a woman.
And Valve can't just simply stop now.
Why don't they mix it up and reveal his/her face!

I think that Valve should toss TF2 to the side and finally bring out wither Episode 3 or HL3 -.-
Episode 2 was the conclusion to the Half Life Series. Kind of a bummer isn't it.

Valve doesn't count past 3.

Pyro can't be a woman.

The voice actor is male.

Don't count on it. I remember back when I beat HL2:EP2 back in 2008: "Oh wow! That ending was AMAZING! Thankfully, with this episodic model, Episode Three is just around the corner! Yes sir ... it will be any day now ... a-yup ... any day now ..."

Just because they shouldn't stop doesn't mean they won't. Never doubt the evil that lurks within the infamous Gaben! :p Just kidding! XD

However, on TF2.com, on the Pyro page, it says that Meet the Pyro is, quote, "Coming Eventually". Do you have any idea what that means in VALVe time? At least your grandkid's grandkids will be able to enjoy it. <:-/

If there was a contest and a winner, it would be this one

Meh, it's okay. Although, I have to wonder why the maker didn't film it in source, instead of remaking everything.

I would love to see is what "Meet the Pyro" would look like if done by R33MIX. He's the guy who made this video ...

... and this one ...

... and this one. D:

Admit it: You want to see "Meet the Pyro: Created by R33MIX". o_O

You know, I'm getting a little tired of Valve fans and Valve's laziness.
They've released 6 1/2 games in the last 4 years, as well umpteen updates for all them. You and I must have very different ideas of what the word "lazy" means. Valve is the most prolific major developer by a country mile.

So basically what you are asking if 'what if there is a contest for the meet the series for the pyro?' I will save some time and refer you to my good friend the scout 'Uh. NO.' as in never in the fucking universe.

Let me explain.

Valve has constructed each Meet The video down to perfection. The ones that were supposed to give hints on things to come did, each character was made extremely vivid and recognizable, through both the trailer, character models etc etc. There have been hints that the universes are vaguely connected, a doll of the heavy on Louis's desk in a L4D comic (I think at least) or maybe they are just easter eggs. I digress.

My main point and question is; Why would Valve, a company that makes their games so well, leave something that is made for their fans and only their fans at this point, to someone who might tarnish their idea or take it in a direction that they don't want? Or ruin it all together? It really is just backwards thinking.

Just because you lack vision doesn't mean that Valve does.

I lack vision? If only you knew ... -_-'

But okay then, since I "lack vision" and you "seem" to be able to know the difference between "vision" and "I think that's all the major updates that NEED to happen", tell me: If you were VALVe, what would you add to TF2 that would be a major update (i.e. not just maps or bug fixes) and still keep the game in the same style? Hmm? Ironsights? Regenerating health? A portal gun?

Go on, hot shit. We're all waiting.

Edit: Oh, and if that "hot shit" part offends you, then maybe you should think twice about insulting people who just might be a bit more creative than you think. I live by these rules: Respect me and I respect you. Disrespect me and I disrespect you.

Capiche?

Well, they said on their website that it is "Coming eventually", though knowing Valve that's anywhere between now and the turn of the century.
As for its relevence, I still think that it can serve a purpose. I mean, for starters, it will appease the fans and make them more eager to keep playing. It's the same reason why they are still putting out updates: because they know that it will keep their fanbase interested and playing.
Secondly, these releases bring new players in. Their new "Meet The" videos reach people who otherwise don't play the games into the series, and more players is always a good thing.
Finally, who's to say that they aren't going to roll out a new feature with this one? Maybe they'll reveal Pyro's gender and give out a new costume that let's you play as him/her without the suit? Or maybe they're rolling out a bunch of new weapons and want to show them off? Or they might have something else entirely new up their sleeve.

Besides, even if none of these happen, they just HAVE to do it! I mean, you can't release 8 awesome short trailers for 9 classes. They wouldn't leave us hanging like that!

No argument there, but I don't see how "Meet the Pyro" is going to make anyone more interested in playing at this point. Either you play TF2 or you don't.

New players? After TF2 went "Free 2 Play", along with the "Meet the Medic" trailer, I don't think there is a single person who doesn't know about TF2. The only people who aren't playing it are the ones who don't like it because of the art style, or the Mann Store or whatever reason.

Hmmm ... maybe there will be an option to let players choose between playing as a male pyro or a female pyro, to appease both sides? Interesting idea. I also wouldn't doubt that there would be new weapons. However, I don't see what else they could do to TF2 that would be entirely new without ruining the fundamentals of the game. Just my opinion. I could be wrong, but what else is there left? Zombies?

"Half-Life 2: Episode Two is great! Episode Three is just around the corner! I mean, they can't release two awesome episodes for a trilogy. They wouldn't leave us Half-Life fans hanging like that!" Since, by your profile picture, you seem to be a Half-Life fan, you know what I'm talking about.

I don't think they'll ever make that game, honestly. And if they do, I sure as hell have no intention of playing it. It's been way too long at this point to be relevant. Which is sad, because I used to be a serious Half-Life fanboy. <:'-( Used to be, anyway ...
