I've been researching the game, and I have to ask other members of the Escapist, is it worth getting? I've been itching for a vampire game to play, and this seems to be the best one out there. Also if I do, what patches should I get for it, and is the companion mod worth downloading?

Not much of a thread I know, but I was curious what the other members of the Escapist thought

I recommend the game, even though I never finished it. Great RPG. Definitively worth it.

Yes, great game. you should definately buy it, but also, you'll want to research the society of leopold glitch. that thing is a game breaker, and a ***** to bypass.

Yes, it is very awesome, but the game is glitchy as hell, you'll need the fan made patch, it should be pretty easy to find on google.

I just play it to remind me of how cool vampires can be until Twilight is erased from my mind.

It's absolutely brilliant IF you patch it with the unofficial patch. I played it a bit before I did, and I couldn't even get passed the tutorial because I missed a power (Blood Buff) I needed to unlock a door. Very lame.

However, when patched it's a great, pretty deep and open RPG with plenty to do. The combat is actually pretty good too, akin to Deus Ex, but not as frustrating. Pistols are so broken in that game.

Best of all perhaps is the setting; urban fantasy. I swear that's an underused setting, even more so than steampunk.

One of my favorites. Though its true the society of leopold glitch is annoying. Get it and at least play it. It is a classic cult game that you would only be better of to play.

Absolutely agree with you there. Urban fantasy has so much potential just ripe for a good dev to take advantage of.

It is a great game, but as stated several times above, PATCH THE GAME! It is buggy as hell, but I have spent hundreds of hours exploring the game, and there are so many ways to play it.

Malcavians are FUN!

I still want to see a Dresden Files RPG akin to Vampire: The Masquerade, but with less bugs, more spell-slinging, even more variation and *gasp* the ability to go out during the day.

It could be so so so so so awesome, I've got it all in my head.

Good recommendations overall, but I still have to ask, what patches should I get, and do you think the companion mod is worth downloading?

There's one big unofficial patch, this one [http://www.patches-scrolls.de/vampire_bloodlines.php]. That should fix most things.

I can't say anything about the companion mod, never tried that myself.

So, Patch 7.0 I'm assuming then?

Yes. If I'm not mistaken, that includes all the fixes from the original patch as well, so 7.0 should be all you need.

A very good RPG and one of the more original, and sometimes even scary storylines I've seen in a game. I can definitely recommend you this one! Redemption was a great game too, but you might only like it if you like to play older games.

Personally.. I despise anything relating to vampyres. Believe it or not it has less to do with twilight as much as it does with Anne Rice, but I digress.

Honestly...at this moment in time, I doubt you will find a more enjoyable vampyre based game. I say that because honestly, its a very solid game that happens to be about vamps.

It's a pretty darn great game, but you absolutely need to get the official patches, at the very least. Never been much for unofficial ones, so can't say anything about them. But the unpatched game is actually impossible to finish.

without cheating anyway, you could just use a noclip cheat to get past the doors
