I just found a copy of this game recently and due to a poster on this forum pointing out it was another game made by Troika and very well done, I decided to get it. So far it is really good. However, I know mods exist for this game but when I went to different sites looking at them I didn't know if there was a good setup or not for them.

I figured I have seen quite a few people here at escapist mention Bloodlines and was actually a bit more interested in the responses here than on the boards I saw. An odd bias comes off on those forums.

So here is my simple question: If you play Bloodlines what do you consider the best 1 or 2 modpacks?

I use patches from here:

http://www.patches-scrolls.de/vampire_bloodlines.php

I'd rather not comment on any internet drama around alternate patches.

Hit up the circle of eight - a modder site for "Temple of Elemental Evil" - yes they have plenty of drama ( i was insulted continually for daring to suggest that I wuld mod in zombies that *** gasp *** grapple )
But no need to get into the drama, these are Troika fans without peer, and they can give you the knowledge you seek!
They even have a bit of the unfinished TRoika project, IIRC, a post-apocalypse squad-combat (aka, "roleplaying" game).

Did anything ever come of the rumor of white wolf doing a W.O.D. MMO?

I've heard of the rumor, but I think it was scrapped a while back when they shifted over to the NWoD. The new franchise didn't shift over well with the old fanbase, and I think the investors got spooked.

I find g4 mostly wretched, the mmo report should be HERE.
Ol' Casey would know.

*edit* I had a LARPie-Harpy try to explain the changes with NewWOD, and it just didn't "ring" for me. To me, back when, the original WOD was almost an answer or backlash to TSR becoming increasingly generic and sanitized to be marketable.

Never played Bloodlines.

Here you go, http://www.gamebanshee.com/interviews/99273-world-of-darkness.html

Probably more news to come as soon as The Grand Masquerade.

Thanks for the link. Warms my bitter dead heart that they haven't given it up yet. I had thought it was gone for sure.

It's a great game.

Don't go heavy on the mods for a first play through, just use the unofficial patches, and don't play Malkavian first time through, their psychic powers reveal spoilers.

I heavily recommend it for playthroughs after the first one.

Sure, if you know what's coming then you can figure out pretty easy what your character is talking about, but for a first time player, you could be referring to a lot of things. Or nothing at all :p

Some things are kinda a give away but.. not that much.

Though I also would not say they're for a first playthrough, you get a lot of humor out of said references :)

edit:

Go with one of the brawler characters first, and be warned while you can get though most of the game by being diplomatic, stealthy and avoiding combat, in the late stages of the game you will be forced into combat which is a pain in the bum if you have left that aspect out of your character.
A great point I forgot. While you don't need to go with a brawling intensive character, you should have more than just the basic combat abilities by the time you get near the end, otherwise you'll be in a lot of trouble.

Oh I was speaking from personal experience, I could see plot points developing from the inferences. The game itself is apparently due to be released this year.

I was Malkavian through the first time and I only got hints at the future events. When they happened I had an "oh that?s what that meant" moment. I disagree with you 120%

Malkavian and Gangrel are my favorite clans.

I just run an unofficial patch; no mods are needed for this game.

I still need to get around to playing the last few of the clans...

Playing as Malk was very good fun. Some of the insight you get if you pay attention is priceless. For instance, you might be speaking to someone and then suddenly hear a voice whisper ever so softly that he or she is lying to you. You might catch it, then again, you might not.

That's strange, especially seeing how there is virtually no information about it whatsoever. No screens, trailers, nothing.

This is one of the very few games I've bothered playing more than once and I'm very glad I did. I played as a Brujah the first go round and followed it up with a Malkavian. Playing as a Malkavian the second time was like playing the entire game with trollface. A pretty large portion of their madness hints at future plot points. I dig it because it comes across as crazy talk if you haven't beaten the game but it's pretty lulzy if he have.

Also...

I agree. Everyone should play Malkavian first due to the way it messes with your head by half spoiling things without telling you anything important. Play a Malk after beating the game and it is wasted since you already know what is going on.

Even with a little warning I still missed things that my girl said. I just loved the insanity powers. Best powers in the game then there are the Gangerl powers.

Also the tuna joke was awsome.
