Vanquish Demo: Too awesome?

I just played through the demo for vanquish. If you're not familiar with it, I recommend downloading the demo on xbox live, but the basic premise is, it's a third person shooter wherein you're some guy with a badass robot suit which allows him to zoom around the battlefield at mach speeds while killing stuff.

The graphics are arguably the best I've ever seen on the 360. The combat is intense and awesome, and there are enough testosterone and explosions to make Michael Bay shudder with inadequacy. Yet it's possible that it may be overly awesomified.

For example, there's one point in the demo where the boss you're fighting starts firing off hundreds of mortar missile things. They aren't easy to avoid, but they aren't impossible either, and you would think after flipping and power sliding around all of them one might think "whoa, that was awesome" but what was going through my mind was "That was way too many fucking missiles."

I honestly don't know what to think of this. It's possibly the most fast paced and action packed game I've ever played, but it almost seems like too much.

So, have you tried out the demo? If so, what do you think of it? Did all the badass gunfire and explosions make it too hectic to appreciate?
Discuss.

Got mine out a minute earlier(Sorry, funny coincidence though).

The demo was great, but I could care less about the story.

That was terrible and annoying...
On an unrelated note, I just finished the Death From Above quest and got the achievement.

I didn't care for the demo. Then again I didn't care for the Bayonetta demo either and that was pretty much the best game of last year in my opinion. I'll reserve my opinion of it till I've had more time to learn it's intracacies.

You know it's going to rock, you just don't want to admit it to yourself. I totally understand.

You are truly an epic ninja lol
I have yet to seen a forum ninja, but now I have. I started up the demo long after I finished downloading it. Too busy playing Fallout 3.

Its awesome!! I'm definately going to buy it. My only real gripe with it though is the voice of the main character didn't fit, nut thats more of a personal opinion

The demo pissed me off. Because now I'm going to be £35 poorer come October.
October, eh? That makes two sci-fi shooters I'll be buying this fall.

R.I.P. for my forum...

Havent played the demo yet, but saw the trailer video to which all i could think of was "well, that came out of nowhere" Sort of like Nier did, but what Im thinking will end up being a LOT better than Neir. It does look good. But yes, wait to see the full release, cohesion of the plot and what levels of multiplayer can it be put to if any.

There's no such thing as "too awesome" and I can't believe I gotta wait over a month for the game.

Check out this demo gameplay vid:

I liked it. The controls felt ergonomic and easy to remember (which I've not had for a game in what feels like AGES) and the dash boost move thingy is incredibly precise too, compensating for a little over slide when he flips out of the boost mode.

Another aspect I liked was the near death experience slo-mo. It made you think "Ok I'm in trouble so I need to get over there, duck, shoot that and keep finding cover" Feels like a good wake up call when you start to get too ambitious in the heat of battle.

The mechs that you can hijack were nice lumbering stompy things of fun with a lovely large cannon that put an end to those enemies "beaming in" in a couple of shots, plus they can also be taken out with a well aimed shot to the leg.

I can see review sites already muttering how it seems to fit a lot of GOW duck and cover mechanics but even thought I was reminded of the 360 game, it felt faster and more vibrant in colour and feeling as the battles were high octane scenes of destruction.

Ticked all the right boxes for me. I personally couldn't care less if it had no online multiplayer really, feels just right as it is

It sort of looked like Lost Planet 2 from the outside, but now that I played it, its so much more fun.
