Is this version confirmed to work with Windows. The only program I know that made it work outside of a non native dos environment was Exult

Dosbox runs it just fine, ya just have to turn EMS memory off. Like almost all Origin games of that era.

LOL just look up Exult which makes you do NOTHING and actually adds features like graphical enhancement, optional MIDI packs, etc to the game. Exult is also stable as a mule, it's probably been in development longer than DOSBOX.
