My HD 4890 is two years and six months old, and since last month I've been getting a serious issue with it. I could run pretty much anything when the games were tweaked decently.
Now, I can't run anything on it (except for games like Super Meat Boy or Nation Red) without almost getting to the boiling point in five minutes time (from Half-Life 2 to The Witcher 2).
Snarky commenters will say: "Turn up the fan speed N00b". Well, I did that, up to 70% (which is by the way incredibly loud) and it still climbs, but not as quickly. The weird thing is, it's not my FPS I'm having trouble with. Hell, I can still run The Witcher 2 at 40 frames per second, it's the ***** heat that won't go away.
I'm on the brink of buying myself a new GPU this Christmas, and I think I might not go for an ATI this time around, and it's a shame because it was so good to me the past years.
EDIT 1: Whenever I run a game my activity is always at 99%.
