I'm getting an Ipod nano this week, and just realised that I don't know how the charging works. Does it come with some kind of charging accessory, or do I need to buy one separately? Is it possible to just, say, plug it into the computer and charge it that way?

It should have came with a USB cord. Plug it into your computer while it is on and it should charge. You will have to buy an accessory to charge it if you can't use your computer to charge it though.

You can charge it by plugging it into the computer using the USB cable provided, but if you don't want to have to plug it into the computer then you have to buy an accessory.

Of course it comes with a charging accessory, otherwise you wouldn't be able to play it. If it didn't come prepackaged with the ability to charge its' battery, it'd never get used.

It comes with a connector that connects to a USB port on your computer. That's also how you put songs on it.

Ok, thanks. Thought that was the case, but wasn't certain.
Don't buy the iPod accessories crap when you do get a auto and AC charging kit. Walk over to the generic power accessories and pick up a car power port to USB, and an AC to usb adapter. Should cost you less then $20, where they want upwards of $40 for "official" cables.

Been using a couple of adapters like this will my phones, bluetooth devices, Zune and other accessories for a while now. The car power port adapter I got even has three USB outlets on it so I can charge more then one device.

Just a bit of advice, heck bet you can find them for a fraction of that price online as well.

I've got a USB phone charger that would probably work.

Cable might not work.

I may have found an image of what I use: can't see the side of the thing:
