So, after contributing to a thread about a BioShock musical, I felt I would be relatively safe bringing my little project to light, apart from having no film experience whatsoever.

Alright, I guess I should outline my inspiration a little first; basically I was sick so I decided to watch and old movie (animated film is my cureall) and found myself watching Fantasia. Somewhere deep in the nerd-workings of my head a seed was planted, and every time I heard a certain track from the movie the little seed continued to germinate.

So I come here to express my idea: I want to make a small series of music videos using game-clips and classical music to express the ambience of both the music and game story. Video Game Concert Hall.

My first idea stems directly from Fantasia; the Metroid Prime trilogy set to Bach's Toccatta and Fugue. I have a few others too, Twilight Princess to a few songs from Stravinsky's Firebird, and tentatively Assassin's Creed to a few songs from Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition

Now that I've said my bit, opinions everyone? Like it? Hate it? No idea what I'm talking about? Any ideas?

Yes I realize that the 'Actually watches game AMVs' and 'Enjoys classical music' demographics probably don't overlap much but I think this could be fun.

Another idea; Halo trilogy to the 1812 Overture

I like the "let's get a classical orchestra to play video game music" idea better. What this would result in is a video game clip show... without the memorable music.

That said: go for it. If you can pull it off well, power to you. After all, "Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow?"

I'm in the center of your Venn diagram, Sable Gear: I watch AMVs and enjoy classical music ( I can't really name anything in particular, but I enjoy it if I hear it).

Let me see if I have this right: you wish to take videogame clips and set them to classical music?

Sounds amazing. I could probably help insomuch as finding good pairings.

A BioShock musical, incidentally, would be the greatest thing ever created. Ever. In history. For all time. Bar none. Period, end of story.

That sounds quite cool, as long as you can do it well. Are you planning on using gameplay footage, or pre-rendered material?

Both, though in-game stuff will be used sparingly, preferably with most of the stats/desplays and such removed if I have to record it myself.

Thanks you guys, I thought I'd earn instant hostility for this. Now all I need to do is find the time and skills to actually DO this. I think classical would be an easier start to AMVs because the timing will bemore forgiving, no lyrics to worry about.
