I'm currently using a GeForce 9400 and i was wondering how this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814261060

compares to it. The 9400 is not going to hold out too much longer, and this is the only one I can see on their page atm that isn't a really unreasonably priced megabeast that has no use because 90% of pc games anymore are console ports.

the 4770 is the best bang for your buck out there.
trust me, it runs like a 300 dollar card for 100 dollars

When you said "Assist" I was thinking your graphics card was the one who passed the puck to Kesler and got the winning goal, putting the Canucks at a 2-0 lead.

I believe they can be compared on the nVidia website.

It should be noticeably better. It's still a low-midrange card, but you should be able to play most games on at least low (probably mid) settings.

Well, my first suggestion is to get the heck away from nVidia and start looking into ATI/AMD's HD series cards. For one, you can get equivalent (and sometimes better) hardware for lower prices and they generally require much less power to operate. (therefore, run cooler as well)

Now, I know some of you will lambaste me for saying this, and had it been two or three years ago I would have agreed. However, lately ATI has been rocking the GPU scene where nVidia has basically been dropping the ball. nVidia's newer hardware is prohibitively more expensive for what amounts to marginal performance increases. Not to mention the plethora of driver bugs and glitchy SLI setups as-of-late.

This whole thing is cyclical. Where ATI is starting to be the "go to" card maker, nVidia held that title a few years ago. And ATI held it a few years prior to that, and so on and so forth. Unless one of these companies "goes under", this cycle is likely to repeat for a very long time.
