Hi Escapist. So I recently purchased Bioshock Infinite on a friend?s recommendation. After installing it through Steam, a message prompted me to upgrade my AMD video card (I think) before playing. I ignored it at first, but encountered some annoying issues in-game (like a sound a Vigor made that was clearly wrong, or lag when I used a melee attack).
So eventually I went back and followed the link Steam gave me to a website, where I downloaded a program called ?ADM Driver Autodetect?, which then told me what I needed. I downloaded and installed the recommended things, but after the installation things went downhill.
First, my screen resolution seems to have dropped. I have quite a large monitor (normally using 1920x1080) but this option doesn?t seem to be available anymore. Whenever I try to change it to a higher resolution, like 1920x1440, my screen goes black and tells me to use 1920x1080 at 60Hz.
The resolution changing caused all manner of issues: pictograms (not sure if this is the proper English word for it) repositioned themselves around my screen, a screenshot that I used as my background is now cropped, etc.
Secondly, I am now unable to play any game. For example, when I start up Dragon Age, it tells me there is no supported video card. Age of Empires goes into more detail, saying I have a video card 0mb, while it needs a 64mb one to run the game.
Has anyone ever encountered a similar problem with an AMD ?update? that messed things up? Any advice on what to do is welcome. I?ve added my system information under this post (The monitor size isn?t correct for some reason, my monitor is around 21 inches across, so I don?t know the program Speccy gave this misinformation).
