So I have a problem with my video card(hence the title). It is a nvidia gforce 9400 gt and until about a week ago it was working. One day I just turned off the computer, when I turned it back on the next day, poof, the video wouldnt work. Black screen. No video showing up at all.

I tried several things, from changing the monitor from changing the cable, it didnt work. I even changed video cards, which didnt work either, so im thinking it might be a problem with that "port" (I forgot what the area where you plug the card in was called), allthough, my card's fan works..which makes me think otherwise.

Anybody have any ideas on what might be the problem and possibly how to solve it?

Hmm... My guess is that your motherboard PCIE port is blown. Take it to a tech professional to see if you need a new one.

I would have suggested to update the driver. But seeing as how you're only getting a black screen, I think you might either have a connection problem or a power supply problem.

It's either the PSU or the motherboard. Either way, it's not a good thing. It wouldn't be so bad if it was your video card as 9400 GT's are quite cheap these days.

Thanx for the reply, I also think it could be the connection or the power supply. Although, the card is not appearing in my device manager, so I think its pointing towards connection.

give us the PSU supply. is it a 500 watt? if its lower i KNOW that wont run it at all. the higher end video cards need power supplies OVER 500 watts.
PSU supply? A power supply unit supply?

Even so, the wattage would be nice.

Not exactly sure where to find that information. A sticker on the area where the power supply is says it is 250w max, but if thats true than how the hell have I been running this card for months without so much as a problem till recently? hm...

Probably by stretching the poor overworked PSU to the maximum until it blew up, which it did...

If it's 250W, you'd definitely want to invest in a new (stronger) power supply...
