Games for me anyway have a strange desire to exhaust or energize. An hour of FPS and I need to take a nap, while an hour of Civ 3 can give me the energy to go all day.

Is this universal? Do you have energy response to a particular genre not listed? Do you undergo a similar phenomena? These questions and more, tonight on this thread.

*yes, it is a chemistry joke.

I never notice how tired or energized I am until after I finish the session, but honestly, I've pulled some late-night runs on Age of Conan and definitely felt tired after, but I have a feeling that I'll start these long sessions again, but with the sheer adrenaline-fueled horror of Dead Space.

Last night I was playing Mass Effect. Then I looked at the clock, and it was one am. I'd started playing at Midday.

I thought to myself "No. No More." and pretty much fell asleep right there.

There have been studies that claim mental exertion triggers the desire to eat and rest, just as physical exertion does, despite not actually using much more energy than regular idle activity.

During the part on Raxxus Prime in Force Unleashed when you have to pull the Star Destroyer down I got really sweaty.
I was playing it on Hard at the time.

Not really, unfortunately. I suppose I turn off during gaming, so perhaps stress relief.

I think it might be that once you've nuked Australia, sent tanks to pillage Cleveland, Washington, and raze Detriot, and have in your possession Europe and Africa, mathematical induction proofs don't seem so big.

I mean fuck, I just killed a battalion of infantry. I am a clicky, tank spammy god!

Anything that requires quick reassessments of the situation while keeping up with other players makes me tired. The more action oriented and involved it is, the more tiring.

Horror, FPS, strategy, and RPG (in descending order) make me tired or require breaks.

Katamari makes me want to hit the clubs and bars.
