- I think the following games are overrated: Half-Life 2, Team Fortress II, Bioshock, Deus Ex, Planescape: Torment, Fallout (all of them).
- I don't understand why JRPGs, Final Fantasy chiefly amongst them, are still popular.
- Although I prefer the Original Trilogy, I'm rather fond of the Star Wars prequels (including Phantom Menace and its game [http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars_Episode_I:_The_Phantom_Menace_%28video_game%29]).
- I think The Force Unleashed's story is the worst thing that happened to Star Wars.
- I think Burning Crusade is the worst WoW expansion.
- I didn't find Aerie annoying in Baldur's Gate II.
- Not game-related, but I don't see what's so special about A Song of Ice and Fire.

I think TF2 and L4D are highly overrated.

Back in the day (pre-Steam) I'd play Counter-Strike & TFC 90/10%, and it felt like the rest of the HL-based community felt similarly. TF2 is improved, sure, but the gameplay is still the same as it was a decade ago. So why is TF2 now the greatest game ever?

L4D (both of them) would be amazing $15 games, but were extremely overpriced at $50-60, for the amount of content in each.

I honestly don't mind that the FPS formula is stale I really do as many of you say "eat that shit up year after year" or something along those lines, I don't understand the obsession with innovation sometimes I like for new games to still feel familiar. I play and enjoy many "generic brown war shooters"

I used to think I was an RTS fan but I realized that I only enjoyed them when I used cheats to give myself a huge army and pwn the AI, when I try to play them fair I find them to be very boring and difficult in fact they make me feel dumb a lot of the time.

Goldeneye 64 paled in comparison to Perfect Dark. I played the latter first, and to be honest i find goldeneye boring. Multiplayer as well, though still fun. Also, Deus ex was lacking. By the time I played it, it fell dry. I just couldn't get real involved in it. Still, I beat it twice. The second was different. Not worse by my standards, as I did take the time to beat it.

I like Treyarch. So many people look at them as 'the studio that ruined Call of Duty' who 'just can't make good games'. I liked both World at War and Black Ops. Maybe I'm just weird.

Both L4Ds are twenty bucks now actually.

OT: I can't understand why everyone thinks Mass Effect is gaming's messiah that proves that games are art. What I played was a game with bland cover based combat, a fairly uninteresting story, and the worst vehicle sections of any game ever made EVER.

I've never finished Planescape: Torment. In fact, I didn't even own it up until recently.

I haven't played any Half Life game and have no real intention to. And I really like the Modern Warfare 2 Campaign, especially the stuff with The Rangers.

i Hate Silent hill 2
the atmosphere building just left me bored out of my mind, hardly anything happens
i couldnt at all suffer through the story and never cared
and the controls are down right BROKEN! there is no excuse for this kind of technical ineptitude if they reinforce the weakness of their characters than the characters must literally be retarded
not even joking it took me ten minutes to get through a single fucking hallway because the controls refused to cooperate

it deserves none of its praise

I absolutely loathe the new fallouts, everything about them. I hate the horrible combat system, the incredibly boring world, the fact that they somehow actually managed to make a post-apocalyptic world feel lifeless in a bad way... everything! I don't care much for the older ones either.

I think that valve is an incredibly average developer, and I think that the only reason that they're as popular as they are is because of steam which I find to be nothing more than an annoying attempt at turning the PC into the valve-box 360 with an included online store that has a few good sales.

And finally,
I love JRPGS, although the genres has it's fair share of bad games ,the good games manage to be way more interesting than most WRPGs. And when they're open world (as every one of them that I've played have been) let me explore a world I actually want to explore while still remaining linear enough to have a good plot.

Edit: I also like anime and manga, but I'm not one of those dumbass weaboos that thinks that just because it's japanese it's awesome. I hold anime and manga up to the same standards as western media and vice versa.

I hate Final Fantasy games. They all have approximately the same story with the same shallow cast of stock characters. The only reason to play it is the combat and even that isn't up to much. The games are basically just bad movies with grinding to fill the gaps.

I hated Fallout 3. It was just grey and boring. The land was grey and so were the enemies. Meaning that I wouldnt notice something until it was killing me.
But on the other hand, I loved Oblivion. It was a bright and vibrant game with heaps to do. I played it for months and never even attempted to do the main quest.
I guess for me it was all about the visuals in those games.

I cant stand Playstations because of their controllers. My hands just dont twist that way and I hate using shoulder buttons. Plus I hate Sony's attitude of "Fuck you! We're Sony and we'll tell you what you want. Dont even dare trying to tell us otherwise!"

Tekken was the worst game ever invented. The controls were slow. The fighters were slow. And the game was boring as bat shit. Virtua Fighter crapped all over it in every regard.

I've never played Bioshock because I dont like games that scare me. I'm a pussy I know.

Most games have gone downhill after Ocarina of time and Goldeneye.

I hate the call of duty franchise. And the n64 controllers sucked...they were just way too wierd. Also the gameCube was awesome. and the best reason to get the original xbox was Starwars Battlefront 2

In my defence, Snow's coat is just so awesome.
This coat woulda been a lot more awesome. Just sayin'.

No, I'm not saying that because he mildly resembles Snow.

Anyways, one thing I never got into: The RTS genre. Just not my thing. It doesn't feel like I have enough control, being that far from the action. I prefer an FPS that mixes RTS elements, really. Also, I hated every Final Fantasy after X. And I couldn't get into IX because of the art. Also, I only liked X for the gameplay. I only really liked Auron, in the cast. The rest, was kinda meh.

Have you played through any developer commentary on Valve games? (I'm thinking Portal, Left 4 Dead). Sounds like they put a lot of thought into how they design their games and it shows. Not saying you have to like the end product, but the care they put into is worth noting.

Not sure what to say about Bethesda and all I know of BioWare are the (in my opinion) excellent Mass Effect games.
I very much do appreciate their focus on making quality games and wish more companies had their mindset(don't rush a crappy game), but they never seemed to be that good at making great games. Of course, I've never played TF2 or L4D, but it looks like the constant upgrading is ruining TF2 and I just don't like zombie games in general. And Portal was so overrated that Final Fantasy VII looked like Metal Arms compared to it.

Bioware and Bethesda suffer from the same crime, and that's the fact that they failed to interest me in the first few hours of the game. I tried enjoying them, I really did. But it's the responsibility of the game to keep me interested after the first few hours. They may very well be complete gems, but they're just so boring, and I play a game to entertain myself.

More power to the people who love them though.

Fallout 3's story sucked so much ass its insane. Its so unbelievably stupid it actually makes me kind of angry.

The last few hours of Bioshock are just completely awful. After the main climax it just devolves into a mindless shooter with a stupid new villain. They even included a stupid, escort quest and had you dress as a Big Daddy for no good reason.

Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time was merely average. It was not the best Zelda game ever made. That honor goes to Majora's Mask.
