Resident Evil 5. I love the story and the gameplay from all RE games, but this game kinda butchered both. It was a good game non the less, but not an RE game. Simply a gears of war game with zombies, no walk+shoot en RE characters slapped onto it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Spore. I was very excited for it and I preordered the Galactic Edition and everything. Then I got it, installed it, and thought that it was fun... at first. The beginning stages were frustrating and boring, but not that bad. Then I got to the Space Stage. I was so confused... was that the stage that we were working towards? Lame... I was so upset.

Bad graphics, stiff animations (the same three attack combo endlessly, SO annoying), poor story, bad upgrade system, virtually no variety in the firearms, bad vehicle controls, clunky combat, and repetitive gameplay. BUT I KEEP GOING BACK TO IT!

A real stick in the mud aren't you?

The majority of big releases are disappointing in one way or another.
I see this topic show up so much that I have to be, because its one of the most annoying ones that comes up.
if it annoys you so much, why do you go into it?

Are there any mods to "fix" Spore? No?

Then I'm going with Spore. It was going to be so super-ultra-cool, and my brain still thinks it is... But then I remember that after 2 hours or so into the Space Stage, it gets too frustrating to be fun.

Fallout 3. From the moment I realized that I skills didn't get better through use (ex. the first time I leveled up) and that I was practically forced to spend by skill points maxing out lockpicking and science and small guns. Still had a blast with the game, though. Just never going to replay it again. At least not yet. Bethesda did good. Just not as good as I hoped. Also, never played the old Fallout games.

Final Fantasy 7. THIS IS THE ONE THEY MAKE THE BIG DEAL ABOUT? FF8 was sooooooooo much better.

Mario 64 (the DS version, to be fair). Controlled like shit.

Phantom Hourglass. Fun, just not when you're in the main temple going through the same puzzles for the 4th time.

[HEADING=1]NONE OF THESE ARE BAD. JUST DISAPPOINTING.[/HEADING]

Also, I like Fable 2. Because my expectations were very low. Which means that I enjoyed it more for what it was, than what it was supposed to be.

I wonder why they thought it was a good idea to have your colonies be completely incapable of defending themselves. And then to have them attacked almost constantly. Nothing was more frustrating than getting a call to help some planet on the other side of the galaxy.

Hmmm, biggest let-downs.

Probably every single sequel to appear on the current generation of consoles (except CoD4). For me, this generation just feels like one big let-down. I think I'm growing out of gaming.

Klonoa 1 played on PS1. I drowned myself in that game, sunk hours and hours into it, getting litterally EVERY last person rescued, and then the end custscenes took over and

Klonoa is shown rescuing the people he was tyring to help since the start, finally ridding the world of the super badguy, and then goes back home . . . and is seen asleep in bed . . . the light shines down through his window, and the ring on the table next to him shines and the spirit in it says "Klonoa! Klonoa! wake up!" he sits up, yawns and says "wow . . . it was all a dream?

My childhood . . . ruined . . .

Two personal ones right off the top of my head:

Final Fantasy 12. FF is one of my favorite series, but this one just didn't feel like Final Fantasy. I mean, I'm not against innovation. New ideas are what keep games fresh, and you shouldn't rehash the same thing over and over. However, the innovations (particularly the combat, gambit, and license systems) just didn't click with me, made the game less fun, and a huge disappointment. Maybe FF13 will fix things. It looks pretty amazing; let's hope for the best.

Musashi: Samurai Legend. It was the sequel to one of my favorite games growing up, Brave Fencer Musashi. It wasn't hyped up a lot (the original wasn't a big enough hit to warrant mass hype) but I had huge expectations for it, given how much time I spent with the original. But the sequel just sucked. Nothing came together well, and it didn't resemble the first at all. Again, I wasn't asking for a rehash, but it would be nice if they hadn't thrown -everything- from the first game away.

To Private Custard: This generation has felt like a let down to me too. I still enjoy playing games, just not the new console ones. I don't think you're growing out of gaming. I just think with the new generation, gaming isn't quite what it used to be.

See this is why I want a mod. Either to stop those stupid attacks OR make planets invulnerable if you are too far from them. ANYTHING to make the space travel less tedious.
