So, when you are feeling a little blue, what video game music will you listen to if you are depressed? Here is some of mine:

Anything from Kingdom Hearts or Okami. Most of the soundtrack is filled with uppity, triumphant music.

I tend to listen to alot of MOS' slow songs when I'm in a quiet/depressed mood, especially Redemption Blues and Best I can, those count as video game songs right?

More recently I've been listening to these guys alot when I want more calm music, my favourite song that they have is down at the bottom, it's the Ninja Gaiden medley, it's so good.

Also, this alot too, I will usually fall back to either piano or guitar arrangements of old Castlevania songs, especially Bloody Tears and Lost painting

Bloody Tears Piano:

I still haven't figured out how to embed Youtube videos, someone feel free to quite me and do so if they want to help and make it easier for everyone to enjoy these.

It depends, but back last year when I was having a particularly hard time of it this song helped quite a lot, probably because of the part of the game it reminds me of more than the song itself.

I don't usually listen to game music when I'm down.
I tend to listen to something similar to how I feel so I usually listen to Alcest or Rome or something like that.

Or I won't listen to anything at all.

Music tends to directly affect my mood more than it does to most people - if I do start feeling down, something that's upbeat/active/nostalgia-inducing, or any combination of that, will give me little choice but to cheer the hell up. And I've got a LOT of soundtracks on my iPod, which are pretty good at emotion-y stuff.

So, antidepressant music? Depends on the specific kind of depression. For some kinds, I'd pick something from, say, Halo - Odd choice, I know, but because it's not really on the depressed/happy scale, but rather the action/inaction scale, it can often derail you from depression.

Or, you could take another approach, and take something really uplifting or inspirational. For that, I'd probably pick Mass Effect.

That is of course assuming I used videogame soundtracks, not TV, Film, or anime soundtracks, or classical, or jazz...

Reminds me of the Taxi Driver theme, probably because it uses a similar motif :p.

The portal and Portal 2 sounds tracks. These funky, yet soothing, synth techno tracks have a way of lifting my spirits... also it makes me think of the games and the many fond memories I have of playing those games.

sometimes I also just listen to really angry death metal (aka death metal in general), after all its better to be angry than depressed...

I tend to gravitate more towards music that makes it worse.

I listen to a lot of miserable country about sad lonely cowboys when Im down, but this particular song is from Red Dead Redemption. I like how this is a defiant song, Fuck those guys that put me down!

Something more serene and uplifting.

I fucking love Oblivions entire soundtrack but this song is something else!

Both brings tears and makes me feel fantastic, not long, probably more nostalgia.

The Persona games have a bunch of music I listen to when I need some music to make me feel even more sad as I overthink things because I'm a knucklehead that does that.

Kingdom Hearts music is pretty good for when I get bored of being a Debbie Downer and need a dose of happy, though.
So god damn jolly.
