Video Game Protagonists you hate

Video game devs can't always get characters right, and in most games there's always at least ONE playable protagonist that we have a negative reaction to, ranging from disliking to outright hating them.

Here we share those hatreds. Or we don't and the thread slips into obscurity. Whatever.

I'll begin first and piss off 99.99% of the male population here with my 3 most disliked video game protagonists:

Lara Croft
Duke Nukem
Cloud Strife

All three, I feel, are understandable.

Anyways, for me, Link. I never trust a guy that doesnt talk, cuz its always the quite ones that turn on you.

I disliked Miranda in Mass Effect 2 just because of the fact they've over sexualized her too much, I know she is supposed to be a "perfect woman" but whatever.

It's just hard to pay attention when she has such a big ass. On another note I was playing Heavy Rain last night and Madison Paige is probably the only video game character I've been really, really attracted to maybe because she is designed and motion captured from a real person.

Also my favorite video game protagonist is Gordan Freeman, I finished all of the first Half Life back when I was in school still and it was painstakingly hard then the second game came out and at the time it was best thing ever and I really grew attached to the character even if he had no personality.

Im surprised, alot of people seem to have a problem with freeman because of his no personality, but I did get attachted to him

I think the one thing that makes him a standout charachter is the fact that he is a scientist (the glasses gotee) this simple little thing makes him memorable and well known, the fact that he isnt just some solder or typical action hero

its also all the charachters around him, they bring him to life in a way

Take anygame where you are the protaginist like Oblivion or Fallout. No one has ever made it through either game without being pricks to the general population in disturbingly creative ways.

Hey, thats not true. I played Fallout 3 and all I did was blow up a city, kill civilians, rob every other person then kill them, and also... on 2nd thought, you may have a slight point there...

Sadly, that's pretty restricted compared to me. On Oblivion I made a spell that froze someone, killed them, brought them to life again, then made them explode.

I used that spell on literally everything.

I loved the lock spell in morrowind vuz you could lock villagers in small spaces and you could escape prison wait for the jailer to come get you run out and lock the door on him XD

ha! wrong! fallout 3 I was whiter than white, I helped everyone I could find and was never even rude to anyone, I only killed those who deserved it!

Or use a paralyze spell on someone after baiting them to swim after you to the ocean XD

My grandmum's a ghoul! Yes it starts with a ghoul with awesome shades. Then you see a citizen with an awesome hat in a quiet ally, then you don't even bother with the clothes you just kill BECAUSE THAT'S WHO YOU ARE! YOU NEED TO KILL!

Isaac Clarke, I just bought Dead Space, and the whole missing wife thing is pretty damn uninteresting when Isaac is a robot with advanced motor skills.

Trust me, that's a lot better than hearing him speak.

I havnt watched any trailers Imm sure his voice isnt that bad

and I don't object to charachters gaining voices I think it can work and I do prefer it, except in the case of Metroid Other M....but that was becasue she was put in the wrong hands

He's just a huge asshole. He has no regard for anyone, constantly threatens people to get his way, and is just an asshole.

I mean yeah I guess he had a good reason, but still, he was an asshole.

lol in a world full of assholes, he was probably the least asshole-y.

OT: Fucking Mario. I don't quite know what it is about him but I fucking hate him.

can't say the same about master cheif but My theory on Freeman is because hes somthing different to your common solder, I find him likeable even though he has no personality I think it has somthing to do with the charachters around him

It just didn't fit with his established not-character. Google the trailers yourself, you'll see what I mean.

Jack Marston. John Marston has to go through all that shit in the game so that his family is kept safe and doesn't want his son to have the life he had and get a decent education and what happens? Ezio struck me as pretty much a murderous dick. After Leonardo gives you the gun attachment for your gauntlet, Ezio runs across the street, kills three unsuspecting city guards with it, and then runs back to Leonardo to say "I love it! Thanks a bunch!" Stop looking so cheerful, you douche, you just committed a triple homicide to try the thing out.

I mean, a lot of those guards are just trying to do their jobs. Telling you that you aren't supposed to be on those rooftops is perfectly valid!

I like Ezio, especially compared to Altaïr, but he took a hit in Brotherhood when he decided not to kill main baddies. He cheerfully murders the city guards just doing the job they were hired to do, then spares the people who gave them those jobs. Come on, man, really?

Anyway, I definitely dislike Jack from ME2. Can't stand her at all. I also hated Kreia from KOTOR 2. Also, Eliwood from Fire Emblem. That guy sucked.
