Video Game Protagonists you hate

Travis Touchdown. He's crude, arrogant, foul-mouthed, and when he gets around Sylvia, he regresses to that awkward teen phase of life. In half the ranking battles, I was somewhat hoping that he would get killed. Sadly, my competitive side didn't allow me to just give up.

Cloud Strife also needs to learn to get over shit. I like how he plays in Dissidia, but for goodness sake man, grow a pair.

Zidane Tribal also. I honestly don't know why, but I really don't care for him.

Umm...technically Michael Corleone from the first Godfather Game. I just hate the character. I know I'm supposed to. But I really like Tessio, who you have to kill. I felt bad after that actually.

The only protagonists I can think of that I actively dislike are Kratos (Extra Credits already did a whole episode on this ass hole and I'd only be repeating them, so go watch it) And Neku from The World Ends With You, Good fucking god, ever single word out of this bastard's mouth just makes me want to smack him with a crowbar.

So boring seems to be a common thread for dislike (Gordon Freeman, Link, Vaan, Desmond). Or being a jerk unjustifiably. Or just being irritating (Titus, Jacob from ME2)

I just have to throw Waka from FFX in there. So irritating. Every time he opened his mouth. That hair, the way he has to add "eh" to the end of his sentences, Canada-esque but less charming. Wanted to play blitzball with his face.

lol I thought that there'd be allot of posters saying Kratos he's a douche I just hate his extreme over the top brutality (tearing off someone's head while they are alive with your bare hands is just fucked) And the constant self righteous whining, hate him.

But even more I hate Starkiller, the epitome of a gary-stu, overpowered, messes with the canon a character of his low caliber belongs in online fan-fiction, hate him even more

I'm playing the Kratos card too. God of War 3, technical and gameplay triumph that it is, had the worst character and plot development I've ever seen. You remember all those execution sequences they'd cram down your throats the GOW games? It shamed me to even imitate such a disgusting human being.

He's just a huge asshole. He has no regard for anyone, constantly threatens people to get his way, and is just an asshole.

I mean yeah I guess he had a good reason, but still, he was an asshole.

i did notice that, but i just chalked it up to not wanting to deal with other peoples shit when he is trying to get back his wife and kid. however, the guy from just cause 2 is just as you describe, people help him and he threatens them. he doesnt even have a good reason.

Video game devs can't always get characters right, and in most games there's always at least ONE playable protagonist that we have a negative reaction to, ranging from disliking to outright hating them.

Here we share those hatreds. Or we don't and the thread slips into obscurity. Whatever.

I'll begin first and piss off 99.99% of the male population here with my 3 most disliked video game protagonists:

I can see why you might not like those charachters, I find it hard to like a charachter if they are a little too "perfect"

I also hate Noble Six from Halo: Reach. There was just something about playing him/her that pissed me off...
