So, yeah, I know that it's rare but, sometime, video games can cause a type of trauma that never, ever goes away.

Does anyone here has any type of 'unpleasant' video game memory? I know I have one and, even though it might sound silly, it is a rela trauma.

So, when I was four or something, my parents had an Atari and a whole pletora of games for it. And they used to play all of them. From Tennis to Pac-Man (little known fact: my mom was a pac-man wiz back in the days). And I liked to play those games too, even though I didn't understand some of them.

But there was one game that freaked me out: Friday the 13th. I just couldn't play it, or see others playing. Whenever my mom on dad started to play it, I would start to cry compulsevily and wouldn't stop until the game was turned off.

Until this day (I'm 21 now) I can't seem to listen to that monotone Friday the 13th song from the Atari game without feeling extremely unease. I mean, if you put me in a chair and force me listen to this in a lop, I would totally and completely go nuts.

So, now that you saw how stupid my trauma is, is there anything you want to share?

Oh yes, my most traumatic moment was actually when i played Half-Life and got to see the final Boss, a giant floating fetus. Yuck. Then again in Half-Life 2 on the Ravenholm chapter.

It wasn't really caused by games, so much as enforced. I've never been that big of a fan of water, specifically capsizing (like in a canoe). The "boat" to Thoda Island in Tales of Symphonia did not help that one bit. I haven't played the game in a while, so I'm not sure if it still has an effect, but I freaked out occasionally during this one canoe trip I went on over the summer.

Fatal Frame. I played it when I was nine and it made me terrified of the dark, the woods, and old time cameras.

headcrabs and the parasites from system shock freak me out no end, both for the same reason as each other.

When I was young and Ocarina of time came out I was excited, but partway through the Deku tree, the skullitas freaked me out too much and I couldn't turn the game on for weeks.
though I was a huge agoraphobic fool, in the end I picked up the game again and realized my fear was silly. So I guess Zelda helped me get over my fear. lol, trifore of courage ftw!

That. That goddamed tin fish thing has caused me to have a fear of water that lives on to this day.

I have a friend when who freeks out when he hears the Sonic Drowning theme. Apperntly as a kid he used to run out the room and hide in the bathroom crying as soon as Sonic started to lose his breath and the music started lol He gets put off by the music to this day, which i play constantly when he is trying to concentrate.

Also my ex girlfriend had a panic attack while watching me and a mate on Cod4, apperntly the gun shots and action triggered it off and we stoppe dplaying and went to sleep (where she woke up to have several more Panics). But we were all very very drunk and it was last.

Myself, erm.. well i have nightmares rarley after playing a game too much. I remember as a kid i played a game on Sega about a ghost and you had to scare people in a house for points (i can't remember the name, if you know please tell me!) the game triggered a horrible nightmare and i made my mam take it back, but my sister wasnt very happy lol

I always thought of Clanker as cute, for some reason...

The bit with the dead bunnies in Silent Hill 3 at the start....just creeped me out a bit...

Also, most of Resident Evil Survivor. No idea why, it was just a really creepy atmosphere....

As a little kid I was driven to near lunacy trying to beat Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. This was at a time when I was too young and too poor to simply stop playing a bad game. When I was lucky enough to get a new game, I played it relentlessly. Zelda II taught me a harsh lesson for that with it's absurd difficulty and general miserableness. But after frustration to the point of almost physical pain, I'm proud to say I beat that accursed game. But to think of that game in any detail now is unpleasant and gives me a nasty headache.

I was four years old when I first played that game. He's been my favorite feared/respected VG villain ever since.

The dead version of James in Silent Hill 2. Specifically, the one in front of the T.V.

I was seven. That was creepy stuff for me back then. I still remember the emotions I felt at that very moment...

Good old fashioned Silent Hill.

Tomb Raider also gave me a couple of weird dreams, though not so much trauma or even nightmares.

Lately, The Witch in L4D has really freaked me out. I have general problems with the notion of a zombie apocalypse.
