So I just started playing inFamous 2 (yes i know i'm late to the party) and i only played it for a half hour before i turned it off. Why?... Cole's voice it's different and i can't stand it, which really irritates me because it otherwise seems like a decent game (i'm not huge on the added melee of the "amp" but i'm willing to give it a try) Anyway, i might just play the game on mute and read the subtitles.

Has a changed voice ever made you stop playing/watching something all together?

That's odd, considering Cole's voice is far better than in the first game.

No, a voice has never stopped me from playing a good game.

If I'm playing a bad game, poor voice acting is the least of my worries.

I've never stopped playing a game because of a voice.

A game that did come close was DE:HR only because of freaking Serif. Jeez his actor was terrible. I thought the rest of the cast did a pretty good job and the game went down as one of my favorites of all time.

Thanks!

I find it irritating, but if it's a part of a series I really like *looks at Darkness II* I can live with it...hopefully.

Sidestepping...I guess this is going off topic, sometimes a changed voice or character can be good (even in a 'so bad it's good' way) like Commander Boreale in Soulstorm

I don't think so.. I mean i kinda laughed at how he sounded like he was trying to be Batman the whole game, but to be honest it kinda grew on me.

no no thats what I'M saying coles voice WAS better in the first game and i fired up the second game heard the difference and was instantly turned off.

Sorry for the confusion
You should probably read my post again.

Cole's voice was terrible in the first game, too gritty.

The second game gave him a pleasant accent.

I mean, I could understand if his voice was terrible, but it isn't, even if you prefer the first one.

The game is brilliant, don't stop playing it because of that.

Well, I'm completely unable to watch dubbed versions of the 2 anime series I like. It borders on causing me physical pain, and from what I hear, those dubs were actually quite good in the world of anime.

I do have a case where the voice acting was the only reason I continued playing a game though, and that game was Two Worlds (admittedly I did eventually give up, but only because the lag on the 360 version made the game fundamentally unplayable).

You should, the game is worth playing and one of the few brilliant PS3 exclusives out there.

Really? I loved Sarif, though Jensen made me think up a cure for drinking a sand paper martini, (it involves marbles)

Out of curiosity what anime?

The Two worlds voice acting was horrible but it was more the gameplay that made me quit. Other than that I can't think of any thing; although there have been some anime where I switched to the Japanese with subs after hearing the dubbed voices.

I don't know, I guess he just sounded too forced to me. Maybe it was just me. Not that Jensen was amazing, but he wasn't bad

Code Geass and Death Note. I'm not sure if the problem was that the voices really were bad, or just that (as in the OP's case) it was different to what I was used to, since I started watching both in Japanese with subtitles from the get-go.

Also I actually considered Two Worlds' voice acting to be a plus, it was so hilariously bad that the gameplay was almost worth slogging through just to hear more.
