Around this time last year i got my first Tattoo, and i remember the agonizing search for something that i wanted that would represent something that I love. I did look in to getting a gaming Tattoo because gaming is something that i love and share with a lot of people. Eventually after a lot of thinking i got a Tolkien Elvish Tattoo that represents apart of my life (specifically my dad)

Now, i'm only 18, so i'm not sure if i will get another Tattoo, at least not yet. I have a lot of time to decide on what to get. But i do love the idea of getting one that represents my love of gaming.

I was going to get the Assassin's Creed logo on the back of my neck (where i ended up getting my first Tattoo)

So what about you guys do, would you get a gaming tattoo? do you have one? Or what tattoo's do you have in general?

I've got a gaming tatoo, I have Jin Kazama's left arm tattoo. I also have two non gaming tatoos, one of the cheshire cat on my back and one on my bum that combines the leo symbol with a picture of a Lion's face, mane and tale.

I don't have any tattoos but if I were to get a gaming related tattoo, it would be the wrist chains from Bioshock, the Assassin's Creed insignia on my inner wrist, or Taskforce 141 insignia on my shoulder.

The Bioshock one sounds pretty sweet.

I Like Faiths Tattoo from Mirror's Edge and a friend of mine wanted to get Vault Boy in his upper arm :)

If I like a game enough to have it's emblem on my body, I buy a t-shirt.

No need for something permanent.

Agreed. Games come and go and by this time next time I'm into something new. So if I was to get a gaming tat, I'd be inclined to go for something more ambigious. The Sir-Tech Dragon from the Wizardry series perhaps. Or the Gangrel symbol from Vampire: The Masquerade.

But I already have more tats than I ever planned to have so... perhaps the girlfriend has room on her body!

See the issue with that is we kind of move from thing to thing fast in this Medium. Can anyone think of a single thing that has lasted more than 5 years without eventually changing in to something you don't like? At this second I honestly can't.

I would really much prefer the jacket on the BioWare store that looks like N7 Armour with a zip up hood that looks like a helmet. That's awesome.

I dont like the idea of sticking a logo, its like me liking food and have a tatoo of McDonald's?, with the "tm" included.

The idea of the Bioshock chains is cool, if you manage to find something that represents your taste in gaming without just being the logo that would be cool. Oh, and try to avoid stuff like Tetris or Pac-man, people will think that you are a hipster.

god the bioshock wrist chain, but only on my left wrist, not both (so for future work i can easily cover it up with a watch or summat).

i will most probably get a couple more gaming tattoos, maybe one on the back of one of my legs (was thinking the umbrella logo, but still undecided).

At the moment I have no plans for any video game-based tattoos. No video game has had a profound enough effect on me to warrant getting something tattooed. Books and films have, but no video games. The closest that I have to that is the design I'm working on for my right, lower half-sleeve, which will be entirely comprised of imagery from Hayao Miyazaki films.

As for stuff I have at the moment, it hasn't changed since the last tattoo thread:
Left shoulder blade - Ishkoodah the comet from Hiawatha's Childhood
Right Shoulder - Iguana/Sparrow from Nicholas Di Genova's Examples of Reptile, Bird Hybrids
Upper right arm - Half-sleeve I comissioned my friend to do. Imagery comprised of old houses, birds and trees
Left inner forearm - Max riding atop the Bull Wild Thing from Maurice Sendak's Where the Wild Things Are

Stuff still planned:
Left shoulder - Smaug concept drawing from 1977s animated version of the Hobbit
Left upper arm - Line-art version of the duo on the cover of Patricia A. McKillip's Bards of Bone Plain
Lower Right Fore-Arm - Previously mentioned Miyazaki half-sleeve (features Shishigami, Odama, Totoro and Howl's Castle)
Left chest - Personal manifesto

I plan to eventually get the Hylian Crest from Zelda tattooed somewhere on me. Not sure where yet, though.

Here's a pic:

Oh, I'm pretty sure I'm going to get a gaming tattoo somewhere down the line, seeing how the hobby's been a substantial part of my conscious life; if the same is the case for you, I approve of your plan.
However, in any case, consider the previously mentioned advice of getting something that looks cool on its own (i.e. sans the inherent reference to a certain game) and is vague enough so as not to be immediately recognizable as a gaming tattoo. Something like this, for example:

It's part of the lore behind the Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver franchise, but as a symbol it's also simple and elegant enough to be a good tattoo regardless of its background.
Long story short: I'd think twice before getting a tattoo of Bowser, Kratos or Master Chief.

Captcha: have ychapati. ... That sounds edible, and intriguing to boot. I think I will have some ychapati. Once I find out (or invent) what it is.

My friend and I often joked that when we hit level 100 in Gears 2 we would get the Crimson skull with the 100 symbol below tattooed somewhere. Of course we never did it (neither of us could afford it at the time etc. etc) but yeah if was going to get a gaming tattoo that would be right up there.

I dont belive theres anything wrong with gaming tatoos, people have gotten tatoos for stupider things

I mean keep it ambiguous and astheticly pleasing, why not?

I'd love to get another tat, but my current and future professions frown on visible tattoos, so my tat locations are limited. That and I want to get them in locations that won't make me look like a dickhead when i'm old.

My friend suggested a full back piece for Grim Fandango and even drew it and coloured it, obviously for the novelty of it but it did look surprisingly good, and detailed

I can't say that there is a gaming franchise that I like enough that I want it to be permanently emblazoned on my body. To be honest, I don't like tattoos so I wouldn't get one anyway.
