cheating...love it or hate it,its there and its abused. and as long as life exists there will always be cheating whether its a video game a test or even a spouse...

so the question is this,

Cheating in Video Games: Yay? or Nay?

this includes abusing exploits!

I support cheating in single player games, if it's what it takes to get you to have fun, go for it! you're not hurting anyone anyway, if others don't like cheating they just shouldn't cheat, end of story.

I see no Poll. o_- .

Are we talking about single-player game cheating? Increasing stats and taking advantage of stuck enemies? Giving yourself all the minerals in ME2 with Gibbed Save Editor for your fourth playthrough (*cough* *looks around suspiciously*)If so, then who cares. It doesn't really hurt anyone else and it probably makes your game a lot more enjoyable.

If you mean multi-player cheating, aimbots, spawning cars and the like then - nay. It ruins the game for everyone and if you cheat, you lose. Even if you win.

yeah the poll glitched and didnt work...so i changed the topic to reflect that...i hope that fixes it xD

also cheating in general,i personally have a sense of honor and refuse to cheat unless the game chooses to be dishonorable itself, like falling threw the floor threw a glitch or just dieing too thin air...but even at that i still refrain from it P:

Cheating in multiplayer is for complete arseholes.

Cheating in single player? Eh, I personally find it really boring. But hey, your game, your business, so go right ahead.

Hacking - For noobs and it sucks.

Cheats(Up,down,x,b or whatever cheats in Singleplayer) - finish the game first and then have fun with the cheats, like Saints Row 2, woooooo, Ima killing everyone with my homing rocketlauncher and I can fly...WOOOOOOO!

Hacking you console is also for noobs and trolls.

No, i tend not to cheat. Especially nowadays, what with trophies being locked out if you cheat.

I will cheat if i find the game to be dull however, an example being GT4, where i got so bored with it I ended up using a cheat disk to turn off the AI and and make the cars hit game breaking speeds.

Cheating is fine as long as it does not negatively affect other players.
Yep...

But sometimes... it can be so much fun XD

Example... GTA: San Andreas: "infinite cheats" edition.

I think it's ok as long as you have fun ... but if you're ruining the game for other, that sucks. I personally cheat when a game is too damn hard or cheap. Mostly when a game is dull.

Depends, really. The "flying tank" (spawn tank+low gravity) cheat was a lot of fun and sometimes it's just nice to say "screw you" to the rules and put God Mode on just so you can become a walking death machine. Also, unlocking the 8Bit music in Bayonetta was fun, it didn't give you any super powers or break the game in any way, it was just nice to hear the old tunes from my childhood again.

Although, like everyone said, cheating the game itself is fine, cheating other people is not only annoying but rather dull as well.

I like cheats BUT

In Singleplayer there cool and fun Co- op....yeah all right but it depends on what cheats they are.

But on Mulitplayer in which a guy runs thou a map getting headshots through 4 walls with 1 bullet then it is a

Cheating can be fun, especially when you've already finished a game legit.

That said, I prefer 'easter eggs' and 'special unlockables' to cheats. ;)

Cheating expands longevity of a single player game. GTA III has a lot of good memories from my childhood because of its cheats and playing game with friends while using cheats. GTA IV's greatest faults in my eyes was its lack of cheats ruining the longevity of the game. More games need to invest in having silly just crazy fun cheats.

Cheating in multiplayer though is rude but victimless crime as it's just score. I blame starcraft 2 ladder changes for my utter disregard for multiplayer having any point thus making me see it as victimless.

SP? your own business. MP? other people's business, so nay. Unless intentionally allowed by the server host. This is basically the answer most people will say, I don't see the point of making a thread about it. I'd say making a thread about exploiting...exploits will make a much better thread, and be more controversial. And to answer that, depends how douchebaggish the exploit, because the scope about what can be classified as an exploit is massive.

I used to use cheats but wound up realizing how boring the game gets when everything is too easy. Some exploits I use. Not usually glitch exploits but mechanics that are working properly though allow you to do something that the designers maybe didn't intend for you to be able to do. I liked how in Saint's Row 2 you could earn cheats like infinite ammo and zero falling damage as rewards for completing challenges.

No cheating in multiplayer.
