You are very well aware that 'European' colonialism wasn't exactly what got the party started? All sorts of tribes and cultures dabbled in conquest, slavery and ass-whuppin'.

The focus on but 'European' conquistadores, adventurers and eevul eempeereealists is purely political in nature. It's cool when you have an agenda of influencing people and making them see things your way. If you're genuinely offended and angry - sorry. It's an old game. One europeans of fair skin got to pretty late in the game. There are other cultures that have been at it long before those pesky Europeans, and the fun bit would be that they're still merrily at it as we speak. So, yeah, people with loincloths exist. It's not racist to depict them as such, it would only be racist to murder and annihilate them, or hunt them down, send their bodies to the taxidermist and put them on display right next to your comfy chair, labelling them as primitives just because they still believe in AOL.

Also, please note that entire continents are naturally inhabited by mainly one main race, that was not intended to be racist. It's just how things turned out. The notion that nation states must be imploded and societies forcibly mingled and messed with is rather new, and we still don't know for sure how these little... experiments will turn out. So... watch this space! Wherever humans go, there will be bloodshed, violence, murder and pain. It's in our nature. Yay!

Look, I'm not saying that it's Resident Evil 5...but it's Resident Evil 5.

Though, the reasons it sucks has nothing to do with racism.
You sure? I haven't played RE5 so I thought he was talking about the Big Game Hunt dlc for Borderlands 2. That had a bunch of "savages" wearing wood. But to tell you the truth, if anyone's going to complain about Borderlands, it should be midgets.

Why can't we all just get along? All this senseless zombie killing just comes off as very zombieest. So try not to do that, OK?

If it's resident evil 5...

IT'S IN AFRICA... which means the predominant race is African's you'll notice in the cities you'll have some token white guys for you too kill as well and it's following the route of an 'undiscovered' African tribe. Tell me did you complain when RE4 was busy shooting Spaniards? or how about the previous RE games which were in America where you spent your time shooting zombified American's?

They were also stereotyping so that you look at the natives and think lost African tribe just like with RE4 where you looked and heard the enemies and thought Spaniard. Also there you can get your aggression out killing Europeans by playing RE4.

As people have mentioned Europeans didn't start the slave trade the African tribes were doing it to each other before we came along which meant at that time it was acceptable in African culture (though I agree that doesn't make it right). The problem with the Europeans though was we increased the enslaving of others to a far larger number than the natives. You know what else the Europeans stopped this practice and it didn't take a civil war to do it.

right rant over. but this annoys me because with video games I think I've killed far more Russian's, Muslim's, Britain's and American's than African's.

Let me also say the British stereotyping in American games does get to me sometimes, but I shrug and move on after all it's a game and not real life.

Long story short: I played a video game. It was very racist. I'm upset. I just wanted to let out some steam and encourage people to do the same. If you want to critisize a game, remember to be constructive and not just go on a rant.

Video games, please stop making the enemies non-descript jungle warriors wearing loinchoths, wooden masks and wooden armor. This may be very obvious but developers haven't quite got the message. A long time ago, european countries began to colonize other continents. Throughout this process they killed, tortured and/or enslaved a lot of people on the basis that they were not real people because they looked different and their culture was "savage". This is known as empirialism and in retrospect was a huge dick move. There is a lot of imagery associated with this era and by using it as reason to kill people you come off as very racist. So try not to do that,OK?

African slave trade differed in many ways from the transatlantic slave trade. You might want to read up on it.

"In most African societies where slavery was prevalent, the enslaved people were largely treated as indentured servants and not treated as chattel slaves."

When will the gamers finally acknowledge that they themselves are racists to a degree. Because apparently it's okay to kill stereotypical spaniards by the truckload. But spaniards anren't among the ethnicitys we're trained to feel sorry for.

However, if anyone kills people with african decent, the "racist" alert works overtime.

We should be more honest and call out the racism as the racism we see. "Don't have me kill Africans! They are people i've been trained to feel sorry for! Let me kill some more russians instead! And let me be a self righteous, well trained, smart ass, brown haired american!

sounds like your complaint is less with the PC movement, and more with the "dude! too soon!" phenomenon. Also, you call video games out on it, but then cite the problem in cinema. I can't think of too many recent examples of games changing their content due to real life having anything too similar going on.

OP lots of things in games, movies, books, and any other media has those problems. Lots of stereotypes being thrown on, not enough research into different cultures and reinforcing annoying social norms.

Theres no hidden agenda where they are subconsciously training people into accepting the images they see, but it is annoying that the people behind their work don't really break out of it

Here are [http://www.cracked.com/article_19549_5-old-timey-prejudices-that-still-show-up-in-every-movie.html]some examples [http://www.cracked.com/article_19922_5-prejudices-that-video-games-cant-seem-to-get-over.html?wa_user1=3&wa_user2=Video+Games&wa_user3=article&wa_user4=yesincite] that irritate me

This, although it was worth it for the merc modes in my opinion.

To be fair there are other games besides Resident Evil 5 to have that kind of portrayal of "natives." The Borderlands 2 expansion, Risen 2, Dead Island, and Far Cry 3, just to name a few.
