I don't think I've ever played a game I could not criticize. Even the greatest games have flaws amongst what we found to be so great about them.

Screw you all! Asteroids and Space Invaders (the original, not the updated 3D-graphic'd remakes)

Where's your critizism now?

Personally I found that persona 4 a bit more grindy than persona 3, but other than that both of the games are brilliant (Personally though I prefer 3).

That series IS pretty amazing, isn't it?

And I'll have to nth portal. Now, I can criticize almost any game, but I know I didn't complain for a moment while playing some games. HL2 and Planescape: Torment come to mind. And, despite being a horrifically glitch-riddled unbalanced mess, Arcanum.

Doom and Doom 2. I can't think of anything bad to say about them. Even today I still think their sprites are beautiful, the weapon design is perfect, there's always a weapon for the situation. Even the fist is useful with a beserk pack. The enemies are varied, and when grouped properly dodging their attacks is almost like playing Gradius or R-Type. The levels were amazing for the time, and still generally well designed. All the enemy types served a purpose, there wasn't really 'cannon fodder', considering even the basic pistol zombie could snipe you from across the level. Everything in them was so well balanced, and with the almost endless amount of user levels it's hard to get bored with the games.

How about we just conclude that no video game immune to criticism and the best games out there are games where flaws make up a game by a very small percentage.
The thread title says games YOU cannot criticize, not what other people can't criticize.

Portal.
It's true! God damn it!
The source engine is dated and frequent loading screens break the immersion.

Also, was I the only one who struggled with the one-eyed rocket robot?

I thought I was suppposed to kill it so I made it shoot itself over and over again. The fact that the robot was un-killable was not self explanatory.

OT: No game is perfect since there is always glitches and therefore no game is above criticism.

As soon as I saw the rocket vaporize when it hit the eyeball thing as though it was surrounded by a "material emancipation grid" I knew it was invincible.

I do not believe there is such a thing as a perfect game. Every game has flaws. Now, I love video games, and I love certain series, but is there a single game that you just can't criticize?

Now, I know we'll see a lot of Half-Life, Zelda, Metroid, Gears of War, Halo, and so forth. But you really gotta think before answering this. A game you "cannot criticize" is a game that in NO WAY made you go "why the eff is it doing THAT?" That during the course of the game itself you never badmouthed it for a MOMENT. A game that made you love every second, and want to play more after it was done. A game that in your eye is 100% genuine, perfect.

Now, I should provide an example, but at the moment, I can't think of one. Even some of my favorite games of all time have issues. Zelda Ocarina of time: Repetitive. Starcraft: Unbalanced. Fallout 3: Too Easy. World of Warcraft: Takes too long, too expensive. Rollercoaster Tycoon: Really Repetitive.

But as I was writing this, I think I had a revelation... Goldeneye. Yes, I don't think I can criticize it. Okay, except for the "Train" mission on 00 Agent. I mean COME ON! It takes her to 3 seconds left to find out where cuba is!!! The last objective is LITERALLY all about a split-second decision that could force you to do the ENTIRE LEVEL over again! It's not even an easy level! It's pretty damn hard!

Dammit. I couldn't even do it for goldeneye. But, beyond that one objective on one level under one difficulty, I can't think of any major criticism I have for it. So there's my opinion: Goldeneye for the N64.

Think carefully now, what is the one game you can't criticize? (I know I couldn't think of one without pointing out a flaw, but come on. There has to be one person who believes a certain game is a platinum statue made out of chocolate.)
None. There is no game above criticism.

Mostly because that would imply perfection and perfection is an entirely subjective concept. Speaking for myself of course, I found Planescape Torment flawless. But those not predisposed to reading entire novels while playing a game might not be inclined to agree.

I can't actually think of any. I'd like to think that I'm not nitpicky, I'm just very critical. I can always find a way to improve something, fix something, make something better. I guess the concept of a game I can't criticize is a game I wouldn't do differently. I really haven't found that yet.

Starcraft: Unbalanced.
I'd think that considering it's still played in tournaments today and no match-up has biased win percentage (except Protoss vs. Zerg, very very slightly, and that could be due to player skill instead), Starcraft is in fact considered balanced.

I could go find tournament results if need be, but the three races, while very different, and requiring different kinds of attention at a competitive level, are in fact pretty damn balanced...

That said, there is no game I can't shit on in some way. Even UT'99, but that's probably as close as it'll get to perfection for me.

Portal
Zelda: Four Swords Adventures (well, besides needing game boy advances and the setup to do multiplayer, but that's not really one to count)
Tetris
Pong
Joust
Half Life 2: Episode One

I can't think of all of them ofcourse, but those off the top of my head...
You liked episode one more than HL2 or Ep 2?
