Video watching help

Not sure if this is the absolute right place to put this but we'll wait and see.

Basically, on Monday nights I go around to a friend's house and play games and come on the Escapist via his PS3 to watch review videos and Zero Punctuation. Recently, however, the whole system crashes whenever we go to watch a video. Is this because of the new pop-up style video? Is there a way around it? Why are the videos here like that now?


Any help given would be absolutely awesome.

I think it may have to do with the PS3 its self.

I've seen people on here shortly lament that they can't do proper things on here. Like one guy commented that he can't quote people, so it may just have to do with the ps3's web browser.

I suppose it could be that. Not being able to do something and the action crashing the system are two different things, though.

As a slight aside, why is there the new pop-up format in videos on The Escapist now? Did I miss a memo?

I had the pop up but now its gone (or is it?) If Wasalp is right then go him!

It's mostly for gaming style advertisements. It takes up a lot of bandwidth to use them for all the vids and it seems your PS3 cannot handle all of it.

If it was an actual pop-up then I'd agree but seeing as it would just open up the video in a little flash window with no border, I'd say that advertising wouldn't really be a reason. But anyway, the pop-up seems to be gone now so we'll see how things go from here. Thanks for the help guys!
